A brand new Z or a used vette? C'mon that is not even a fair question. 32k miles is quite a bit for a chevy. Plus unless you know how that vette was driven, I would beware. You can customize a Z to beat a vette for not that much money, plus you can say you drive a Z.

I know where you are coming from since I have thought about getting a 2000 Vette or a new Z for almost the same price at one time. But like someone said a new Z is nice. As for the 32K mile isn't something I would worry about on a Vette. The Vette is a great soild sports car. But with the new Vettes coming out next year the 99 will look and feel pretty out dated compare to a 2004 or 05 350Z. For me I didn't care about the speed, I cared more about getting a new sports car which is why I went for Z. And having two Vettes 88-92 before I wanted to try something different too.

The C5 is an awesome car, no doubt. And if you care about speed, then you have your answer

corvette is at least a second faster in the 1/4 mile. no m3s, stis, or evos could hang with you. and it's a sexy car. all of those things would amount to a pretty nice sense of owner satisfaction.

i traded my 99 C5 with 37k miles on for $24k for my Z in november of 02

i was in imaculate condition and had some nice mods

i like my Z so much better. the C5 is just an old all around car. i really loved mine when i forst got it but was happy to trade to a Z

yeah its faster but not enought to invest 30k of your money into an outdated car

go for the Z
ouch.....why didn't you just sell it and make more money than that. Someone would have bought it for at least 28k.

I agree... don't waste your time with a normal C5. IN Las Vegas on my trip I saw nothing but Corvettes. I'd say I literally saw around 4 C5's to every 1 Z I saw. Let's put it this way:

Build Quality: 350Z>C5
Acceleration: 350Z<C5
Exterior Looks: 350Z>C5
Aftermarket: 350Z=C5 (probably cheaper parts for the Z, though)
Handling: I hear that both cars are pretty equal in this category
Reliability: Just my guess but I'm going to give the Z a nod here, especially when compared to early C5s.

Now, choosing between a 350Z or a C5 Z06 or C6 is a tougher choice

My next car will be a C6 (well probably C7 or C8 at that time ).....But to answer your question, I, for one, Will NEVER buy a used sports car. EVER. Unless, it had One previous owner, and that owner was a 65+ year old lady.

what does the fact that you saw lots of corvettes in vegas have to do with anything? i see more 350zs than corvettes and the z has only been around for two model years. but he lives in alabama, so it could be totally different there. reliability on the z is not superior when almost every z suffers from tire feathering. i think the z looks better, and *usually* japanese reliability is better, but not necessarily in this case. 30k for a c5 corvette with 32k miles seems like a good price to me, and that's assuming it's the agreed upon price and not just the asking price. of course, you can't go wrong either way imo.

Believe it or not, you do find those! :-) I've procured 3 sports cars via that route..all immaculate. Granted 2 of them were automatics...but still!

I bought my Z used with 3K miles on it. It was turned in by a 60 yr old man who thought after a few months it was too uncomfortable so he got a Maxima.

Just remember, you have to be at LEAST 50 years old to buy a Corvette. At least, here in Wisconsin you do...

NEW Z hands down, why would you want a car thats 5 years old when you can have a new one. Especially when it's a new Z.
The vette is going to be an old design in a few weeks.

and as was already mentioned. Do you really want to by a used sports car? I can tell you from experience they get driven hard.

Get the Z and you will have no regrets
