Default What was your first mod?

Hello all !!

Having been bitten by the upgrade bug, I'm starting to consider upgrading w/some mods...

Where did you guys start?
My Z is a 6sp touring model with the performance package and 18" stock wheels...

As money will allow, my goal is to get into a twin turbo kit. I am aware that will need to include intake/exhaust, and possibly some engine work....but where should I start? I'd like to learn thru others that have been where I am today..lol
Any comments or sugestions are appreciated
Thanks

Hey,
If you go TT, the intake component will be taken care of for you, so don't spend money on a CAI or other intake mod (unless you want to get a new plenum, that is). Exhaust is a good first mod, just be prepared for some low-end torque loss that comes with the more free flowing exhaust system until your TT kit is in.

If you go TT, you might want to think about doing new wheels. With all that power, the bigger the contact patch, the better. 275's on 19" rims in the back will definitely help hook up all that power, and you're not supposed to put 275's on the 18's that you have now.

There are some good inexpensive ones you can do as well like shift **** (the stock shift **** weighs like 3 pounds), shorty antenna, spoiler, headlight/tail light/ guage pod overlays, CF console panels, etc.

Hope this helps.

When I got mine I was content with the power at first so I decided to put a little into the suspension. So my first mod was the Stillen sway bars. Tightened up the whole car right away, the difference was instantly noticable. Takes the handling up a few notches.

Curious as to what this performance package is that you claim? The Z is available in a "performance" model but according to NissanUSA no such package exists.

My first mod was the SunAuto Hyperground System.

Wanted wider rubber, purchased the Rays wheels from my dealership and some Michelins to replace the OEM 17's...they are in my garage in boxes now.

I'd have to agree that upgrading the suspension and some sway bars will be on the top of the list...followed by new wheels...Does changing to a lighter racing wheel really make that much difference in weight??

I was told by the salesman it's a 6sp touring with performance package meaning...18" wheels, front and rear lips.....not that those items have anything to do with "performance"...lol....

Is that something you would wait to do until ready for the turbo, ??

Thanks everyone......
Edited due to the 40hr grind....

new wheels would definitely be one of the most noticable mods. another good one would be a plenum, supposed to have some good gains..

More salesman BS. 18" wheels are standard equipment on 6sp tourings. Front and rear lips would be the aerodynamic package.

If your going with FI later on, save your money and invest in reading material. Helps to know what your putting in your car and how it works.
