Default Is the Z a 13 or 14 second car?

There always seems to be a 350Z post on another forum I'm on and the members love to bash it calling it "slow" and how they can easily kill it. I should hope so with there300+HP V8's...its a given...but there's always arguements over its 1/4 mile times too.

What's the average 1/4 mile time of a stock Z. I've seen them range from 13.77 to 14.2.

Is the Z a 14 second car.

It all depends on who's driving and track conditions. The Z is capable in the right hands of mid 13's.

I don't know why V8 owner insist on bashing the "Z". I sure hope they have more power with a V8. They should, but look a the mustang gt rated @ 260HP. A V8 pushing less HP than our V6. Comparing apples to apples, I have yet to see another N/A V6 that can compare to ours.

Most of the V8 guys seem to only think about 1/4 mile times. Most V8's (with the exception of cars like C5 Corvettes, etc.) would get used as a mop on a road course by the Z.

As for me, I personally consider the Z a mid 13 second to low 14 second car. But If I had to be more accurate, I'd say on average it's a high-13 car. Not slow at all if you ask me.

I ran a 14.24, but I slipped like a champ at the start. My car is also heavy between my stereo equipment and Dynamat. I know I can easily run a 13.6 to 13.8. I just need a few more runs to get a feel for the launch at the track.

Well that is an interesting question because I remember reading a car and driver article that listed it as a 14.1 but have seen many people run in the mid to high 13s stock.

How about a 13.09 with only "minor" mods...

6 cylinders are compared to other 6 cylinders regardless of their angle. The point is, it produces 333 hp compared to the 280 the 350z motor puts out. I think he deserves to know the v6 in the 350z is far from the most powerful 6 cylinders out there. That sort of elitism will only bring negativity.

I agree, I was just making a joke of it. Perhaps he meant in that price range...because dollar for dollar, the VQ engine is pretty darn impressive.

You're right defex. The M3 is a sweet car with a sweet engine. I guess I should be more specific. Vice86 was stating how some V8 owners bash the 350. When I think of the most of the cars with V8's vs. the same cars the has a V6 option most can't compare. I was no way insinuating the "Z" is the most superior. It's just pretty damn impressive dollar for dollar.

Thanks for having my back DrVolkl That's exactly what I meant.

Let's not leave out Porsche, especially with the upcoming 997 Carerra S. It will be pusing 350 HP. How's that for a 6-cylinder...
