VIN issues with insurance company
I called my insurance company to add the Z to my policy. Insurance company says the VIN number is incorrect. I looked up the VIN on nissanusa for the dealer inventory. It matches perfectly with what the dealer gave me. What gives?
Ask your insurance company what they mean when they say incorrect. I'm sure you have Title/Registration with your VIN on it. Send them a copy of that if they need it. Do you have a local agent or an 800 number. If an agent, then take the car to him and show him. If an 800 number, get a fax number or email address where you can send these things along with a digital photo of your VIN. Past that, it sounds like their problem, not yours. Software not updated?
You can see your VIN by standing at your right side mirror and looking down through the window at the very bottom where it joins the dash.
You may have just given them an incorrect digit; an O for an 0, or something like that.

Your existing insurance will normally provide coverage for three (3) days following the purchase of a new vehicle, in which time you're supposed to take the actual car down to the insurance agent.
Hope this helps. I wouldn't worry so much about having insurance specifically for the Z when you take delivery, as long as you already have a current policy in force.

Almost. Most dealerships now won't allow you to leave the lot with the car unless you have proof of insurance. If there is a lienholder on the vehicle, then they are required to verify full coverage insurance.

In NJ they may let you take the vehicle if you present an ID card for any other vehicle on the policy. I'd also bring along a copy of the policy declarations (the thing that shows the vehicles, coverages, etc.)
I assume your insurance company isn't open on Saturdays...hope they let you take your Z.
I had the same problem when I bought my car. It had just arrived at port when I called the insurance company. They said their database was likely not updated and they followed up with the dealer to confirm VIN. I suspect probably the same issue
