Default Aftermarket Navigation question

I was in the audio/Nav forums and had some questions.

I was reading about different aftermarket units.

When you buy a aftermarket do you have to buy the DVD NAV unit for $1500 and the a screen for another $1k-$2k?

Also how does it compare to a factory unit like does it have points of interest where it will list like restaurants, gas stations with the phone numbers and stuff??

Thank you for any help or info.

Aftermarket nav units do have to be purchased seperatly ie: the moniter and then the actual nav unit. Pioneer is the only exception at this point, they offer one with nav built in, an all in one unit for 2g's. The aftermarket nav and stock nav will work the same.

i went with an alpine nve 85 and tme 600.
Back then it was ~1700 for the unit and 600 for the screen. I think now its all under 2K.

search the audio forum i have described the advantages over the stock nissan nav based on my infiniti fx nav.
