Default Extended Warranty worth it?

I'm getting close to 36k. I'm debating on getting the extended warranty for the car.

I have a bunch of stuff which recently broke. Normally I sell my cars b4 the warranty is up. But it's been a while since I did not have a 60k warranty.

Anyone get the dealer extended warranty?

You maybe out of luck. It's kind of hard getting that kind of warranty so late in the game. What were you thinking about when you purchased that car without getting a 100,000k warranty were you smoking crack! I have about 36,450k on my Z and yes I got that warranty on mine. Keep your car man it's a road car miles are not goning to hurt it,you can put 300,000k on that engine if take care of it.

I also got it...it was only another 6 bucks a month for my deal. I plan on keeping my car for a while, so it's a good investment. I agree with david...I think it's too late to get the warranty.

I was under the impression that you could get the warranty, at least up to the time the current one ran out. I bought my car used (a year old), with 8K miles and could get the warranty then. Don't see why I wouldn't be able to get it at least up to the time the current one runs out.

Here's a link on extended warranties that might help you with your decision.

http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/e.../act/feature14

Most people don't understand extended warranties and get them when they are not necessary. Many dealerships make extended warranties sound like replacement insurance for damage that is caused by accidents or mishaps or that you need it right away. Talk to an honest car salesperson and they will tell you that extended warranties are sort of worthless while the manufacturer's warranty is in effect. Insurance covers damage from accidents and mishaps. Extended warranties cover manufacturer defects and workmanship. Every new car comes with a manufacutuer's warranty that covers the car for a specific period. When you come close to the end of your manufactuer's warranty you have to decide if your car has enough workmanship problems or defects to make an extended warranty worth your money. If you do decide on an extended warranty you want to do it before your manufactuer's warranty expires or else the new warranty will be more expensive.

My take on the extended warranty for a new car is that you don't need it while you have a manufacturer's warranty. You don't have to buy it from the dealer at the time of purchase, even though many dealers make sound like you should or that it is a good idea. You can buy it anytime from the dealer when and if you need it or you can go to an independent warranty company and spend less. If you do decide on an extended warranty get it just before your manufacturer's warranty expires. If I was still having several problems with workmanship or defects after the manufactuer's warranty has expired, I wouldn't be looking for an extended warranty, I would be looking for a new car with better reliability.

Why do they sell extended warranties? To make a shitload of money.

You'd be better off buying a thousand dollars in lottery tickets, the odds are more in your favor that you would receive some benefit.

Do some statistical research on extended warranties (google), you'd have to be an idiot to buy one on anything!

You think so ha. My Xbox, and expensive big screen TV all benefited from a service plan/extended warranty. If I had not gotten it I'd have to pay way more than what it cost me to get the extented warranty. You're maybe right, chances are you won't need it; But in the even it does, I'm covered.
