the diffusion panels are at the back of the car beside the exhaust pipes.

This thread reminds me of the Abbot & Costello "Who's on first" routine.

Also, the old saying of the "blind leading the blind" applies

LOL!

EXTAZ-If you followed the formation of the new Z thru the years you would know Nissan NEVER said or rumored the Track to have more hp.The Z was originally to have at least 260 hp then Nissan said at least 280 hp and a 0-60 time of under 6 seconds. And it never said anything about a lighter weight model.I have nearly every article on the formation of the Z and this was never discussed. The reason I bought the Track was mainly I wanted the front and rear spoilers which came with the Track. But the main reason was I thought the Rays wheels really looked great on the car. From what I have seen the Track seems to be the most rare.I think the Enthusiast or Performace are the best buys.

thats true, most of the Z buyers that come in rarely buy the track. They figure, "why should I pay more for less?" But a mojority always ask anyways. That's why I wanted to know FOR SURE.

"Why pay more for less".

Once again, the track ISN'T LESS...It's just dollars invested (wisely, IMHO) in different areas.

Leather seat covers are what, $500/pair? I'll bet minus the wiring work, you could buy the power leather seats from a touring for around $1500-$2000 for the pair. That wouldn't buy the front wheels for the track.

I think most people just figure that "brakes are brakes. As long my car stops when I push the pedal, who cares?" They don't see the value of the Brembo package, and for many people, there isn't one. But if you ever shop for a brake upgrade, you'll see what a huge up-front investment that particular piece of the Track model is.

We all know that the Bose system has been deemed a "marginal stereo system" by many Z owners, so I don't really consider that a sacrifice in buying a track model. A serious audio-phile would upgrade it first-thing, and unlike the Track wheels, or even the standard aero-kit, there is NO resale market for the Bose, so once you buy it, you're stuck with it. At least if I decide to upgrade my wheels or body-work, I stand a chance of making back some of my aftermarket costs by reselling the OEM parts.

Again, not less, just different. IMHO, the track is the best trim level available for the $$$. Ultimately, as long as you end up with something you're happy with, it doesn't matter what you buy.

I'm curious. How many here uses their Z on the track ?

And of them, how many are Track models ? What % do you guys think ?

"Out of the box track worthiness" is all I want. So the Track model is the one I'd like to buy. They do seem pretty rare tough...

For "out of the box track worthiness", the Track is the way to go. All other factors aside, you'll have better repetitive stopping abilitiy with the brembo brakes than with the stock nissan brakes.

Aero-kit is a nice plus, but I don't know if aerodynamic stability is really a factor for amateur racing.

I don't know that the Ray's really gain you anything on the track other than a little larger contact patch than the 17's (the performance 18" wheels are the same size, though)

Hope that helps.
