Wink Fuel pump huh? Any fix for it? Thanks!

How about the Bose system with the rediculous bass? If I take it to the dealer, what would they do to it to fix it. Thanks guys!!!

I NEVER use auto. AUTO=Full Blast. Thanks for the info tho. I think I'm taking the car in.

I guess driving a new car takes getting used to. I'm used to just living with little problems. My friend who gets a new Benz every 2-3 years takes his in everytime there is a squeak. Heck, it's free, I'm taking it in.

there is a member here that received a replacement for the bose problem. He received a new amplifier with a reworked amplifier and it was installed in 30 minutes. Really easy to get to. OR, you can use the existing wires to easily replace the bose amp with a GOOD amp (zapco, alpine, jl audio, us acoustics (for the budget minded) or xtant/mcintosh (big ballers))

What I'm wondering is this squeak that sounds like a chirp sound whenever I hit a bump.
Could be a dry bushing in the suspension. I have a squeak now that its cooler outside. I'll add to list

Default Problems list

People, I am seeing some pattrens show up because some did not read the owners manual. I have discovered I have done the same thing, ie. passenger seat belt rattle, it rattles if you don't have a passenger using it or if it isn't pushed into the small clip just midway up the passenger side. I know, it is boring to read, like all manuals, but we are missing how some things work in this car by failing to read it.

Boomer--On the other hand, several members have reported a high pitched whining sound, a member says he has traced it to the fuel pump. So there are some uninformed members, like me not reading about the seatbelt clip, as an example. And we have proactive members who are more skilled and can diagnose some of their own problems.

But, there are a lot of cars exhibiting the same symptoms, water leaks, rattles in sun visors and in the strut brace, lots of Loud noises coming from the rear wheel wells, etc. These can be corrected, I am sure, as soon as ZISME/NNA? can get info together to devise fixes for those kind of problems.

Almost all of the posts I've read have small, irritating problems common to a number of our Zs because its a Brand New Car and to be fair we were pushing Nissan hard to get them to us. Now, we may have to wait a little while before these irritants can be fixed. I don't mind because the 350Z is the best traditional(2 seats, my bias)sports car I've ever owned and I can wait a little while until my car is perfect and all the niggling little adjustments that need attention are resolved.

Other problems are not so easy to do a quick fix. Another problem of gear box hard shifting has been reported and that needs prompt action.

That's all I have to report for now. I hope all of the rest of our preorder cars get here in October as promised.

Service Engine Soon Light comes on
Does the service light come on at startup w/the rattles? If it does, I would get it to the dealer right away so you have a record of seeking dealer support for this problem if you have a warranty claim.

Boomer--I hate it but you have to document everything or you can get screwed.

Section 11, page 6. That will be $100, based on my hourly rate I get paid by my ex-employer to keep my mouth shut about all the abuses perpertrated by "Phantom Employees". American Express Travelers' Check(s) will do nicely.

Good thread. I didn't even realize I had some of these problems. In order of most annoying:
1. Vent fresh/recirc seems to have a mind of it's own. I can't set it to fan on, with recirc only, no ac. Every time I hit recirc, the AC comes on. I turn off AC and the vent switches to fresh. Is something wrong? I didn't notice anyone else complaining about this.
2. Window streak on the inside. I keep it spotless, but almost never roll down the windows due to the streak.
3. 1-2 shift sometimes.
4. When accelerating in 3rd, I sometimes notice it "toots". I remember a post about this.
What are "toots"? Backfires, ?

I have:

- High frequency rattle from somewhere on the passenger side. I haven't been able to isolate it. It sounds tinny, like a thin piece of metal or hard plastic vibrating. Only hear it when I go over certain rough roads. Not sure if it's from the sun visor or cupholder or something else.

- This might be a new one: a rattle from the stereo in the center console. I can hear it any time I want if I push on the plastic just above or below the CD slot opening. Occurs more often in the morning when it's colder. (I have a Touring with 6-CD Bose.) Just started recently, at about 3900 miles.

- CD changer/player skips a lot! I don't think there's anything wrong with my discs. And it's not just when I go over bumps, either. Actually, what happens is it will skip in the middle of a song and change to a new song. I keep it on 6-disc shuffle most of the time. I'll have to keep an eye on this. (Bose 6-CD stereo)

- Within the last couple days, I think I hear a rattle from the rear STB.

- I have serious trouble opening the gas cap cover. I haven't been able to get it on the first try yet! I push that f*&^ing button to pop it open, walk all the way around to the passenger side, and it's not popped open. So I walk back to the driver's side and try it again and again (maybe if I push it hard and quick... no, didn't work... try slower this time... push it at an angle?!... damn!). I feel like a fool walking around my car two or three times before I can even get access to the cap. I think it releases the catch when I hit the button, but the cap doesn't pop open enough for me to grab it most times. Maybe I can carry a little allen wrench in the change tray, and I can hook that under the cas cap cover to pull it open. Or, Nissan could give me a stronger spring.

I think that's it. Really nothing major. The engine, tranny, suspension, and exhaust are all bueno. And no orange peel, either (*whew*).

Window Streaks. To the point where the window guide roller has worn'/etched the highest spot on my window tint and will not come off. I suspect thast the grease has etched the plastic tint film. I'm gonna take it to Nissan but I suspect that they will tell me "Sorry, the window tint is not OEM".

The typical soft clearcoat which scratches so easily.

Default Attn Boomer: Re Orange Peel

Hey, $100 to cure the orange peel problem is worth it. Do you take PayPal?

Went out to a Nissan Dealer tonight and saw a Redline and a Chrome 350Z. Both had orange peel. Also a black Frontier and a white Altima 2.5 had it. It's not just a few, but all 350's (and Nissan's) have it. Some of us are more critical (overly?) than others. If anyone thinks their 350 doesn't have any orange peel (and it's all over the car- but worse on the vertical surfaces?), check yours under fluorescent lights - the bumpy unfocused reflection of the lights is orange peel.

Now I'm going to check my buddy's custom paint job (black), and a Porsche, both of which were supposedly wet sanded and buffed before clear coating.

I haven't seen any orange peel on my Brickyard but then ztom said its there, so it must be. Gee, I could spend a lot more money on a custom paint job or just buy a Porsche to cure my Z ills. I don't think so. I like my Z.

Since we have so many people weighing in, perhaps it would be useful to post the last 6 digits of your VIN. Maybe cars made at the same time have the same problems.

My only problem thus far is the rattle from the driver's door with bass-heavy music. And I'm not talking the latest Ice Cube CD, anything with moderate bass makes it rattle. Putting my arm on the armrest or inside the grip handle stops it. Annoying.

Default newbie question:

Can someone describe 'orange peel' and what to look for? I've done searches here but...

I get the impression that the coating on the paint is peeling off in certain places.?.?

On that topic - Im expecting delivery in November and when I called the dealer to ask if they do the 3m clear-bra they said, "No we have a better coating that protects the whole car. My manager has been in the business for 25 years blah blah blah".

Ok, so my gut says... I saw the movie Fargo and no thanks to your special dealer coating. But if orange peel is what I'm guessing it is, is this not such a bad idea?

thanks
