Default Wiper Noise

MY Z developed a noise within the wiper mechanism. Loud and squeaking. I took it in and they disassembled the mechanism and found the connecting rod rubbing a screw head. They replaced the screw with a thinner one and no more noise.

I also have the console compartment lid problem others have mentioned.

BTW, Damn she is a fine car. So much fun.

Most of my issues have been listed already. I have to say that there is nothing major enough to detract from my enjoyment os owning/driving this car.

1) Window streaks - dealer will investigate on next visit
2) The usual Bose stuff - registered case w/Nissan
3) Driver door rattle when the Bose bass is booming
4) Lots of road noise from rear wheels
5) Some orange peel on hood
6) Front bumper chips very easily
7) Idle drops/runs rough when accessory (rear window defog, etc) is turned on when stopped
8) Trim piece (pictured below) on drivers seat is coming apart - dealer has part on order

I guess I'm not as picky about my Z as alot of you are, or maybe I'm just lucky, but I don't really have many problems.

1) Window grease streaks
2) Water under hatch and under door(kickplates)
3) You can't turn the A/C completely off. It always has some kind of airflow, no matter what setting it's on.

These are really minor, and don't even bother me that much. As far as orange peel goes, I have no idea what that is, and if I do I have it, it's not obvious enough for me to care. I think my paint looks beautiful. Of course, that could be the Zaino job I did

For what it's worth, there are 3 TSBs in the database for the 350z.

Default Additions to my list

Recently I noticed when washing the rear passenger part of the bumper that if you thump it.. there is a rattle behind the plastic bumper. Something is very loose.

One note, the members griping about the A/C need to read the section on the A/C. If you put it on auto and it's let's say 80 degrees outside and you have it set to 60.. it is going to kick the fan up.. if you have it set to vent and want it colder than it is outside.. the A/C compressor will turn on.. if you want the airflow off.. turn the dial to Off.. I've dabbled and figured most of these out.. plus this is how my Navigator works.

This is all good stuff though.. it atleast verifies that I'm not loosing my sanity when I think I hear another squeek.

Oh yeah... greasy spots on inside of both windows.. high pitch squeek from left and right side front dashboard.. but I can't figure out where.

My problem with these squeaks is that I don't want to bring it to the dealership so they say they need to drive it for an entire day to find them... at this point I don't trust them. I was at Courtessy Nissan yesterday and saw a service mechanic driving a Pathfinder into a parking space where the customer was... he popped the clutch twice right in front of the customer 3 feet from the curb.. then proceeded to get out and hand the keys over!! Honestly, I'm not too comfortable with any dealership at this point.

Default Interesting Link - Thanks

Thanks WXTORNADO - It's an interesting link.
I think this is for safety issues only, but most problems can be linked to safety (even rattles - steering, suspension, etc.).

Noted that there are 3 tsb's for 350Z, 5 for '03 Altima, and 6 for '03 Maxima. One problem common to both Altima & Maxima (350Z?) is "Automatic Transmission slips in Reverse and has no engine braking in D1". Something for Automatic 350Z owners to keep an eye on?

Actually I've read the section. Twice. I want the airflow totally off. So I set the dial to off. But yet air still comes out, no matter what temp I set it to. The manual just says that if you set it to off, and have the temperature setting lower than the outside temperature, that it may not work properly, and it will operate with unexpected results. That's informative! How about actually shutting off the airflow when I tell it to be off!

I've only had mine for a week and a day, but I don't see many problems at all, actually no serious problems. I too have noticed the grease streak on the passenger window and water on the door and hatchback seals after rain, washings. I may have orange peel, but I don't see what the big deal is. It is only noticable if you get on your hands and knees and look for it, and I haven't even waxed yet. The shifting may be a little bit hard; my shifter seems to want to stay on the left so it is a little difficult to get it over to the high gears, but this is more of a circumstance than a problem. Also, I think my clutch may be a little too loose. I have some difficulty getting a smooth transition form 1st to 2nd gear, but this could go away when I get it broken in and can shift at higher RPM. I hear no rattles whatsoever, and I'm very picky about that sort of thing. If I were on the engineering team, I might place the rear view mirror a little lower on the windshield or something because I am 6'3" and I can rarely see anything other than the front bumper of cars behind me, unless they are right on my bumper. I have noticed no movement of my seat. I have noticed no engine rattles not adequately explained in the owner's manual. I haven't read the owners' manual in a while. Does anyone know if the hatch can be popped from the inside or do you have to use the fob or the release above the license plate. I have no paint chips through 1 week of driving and 600 miles and counting. Overall, I am very pleased so far.

There is an emergency release under the rear strut tower brace somewhere, although I haven't seen it yet.

Default Stopping incoming air movement

To answer "Infinite Z's" question on air movement: The center control of the three relating to A/C gives the option of recirculating or outside air. Push the button to select "recirculating" and you'll get no air movement if all other controls are off.

Couldn't you also just manually close the vents?

another new thing...the plastic right behind the doors (where the seat belts stays when you take it off) scratches easily from when you take off your selt belt and it kind flings back there...check it out, bet there's lots of little scratches caused by the seatbelt being released back to its place...
I have the rear view mirror buzz as well. When I squeeze the housing together (top and bottom) with my hand - it goes away. When I let go it comes back. I'm fairly certain it isn't where it connects but the actual insides of the mirror.

Default It's the Z or my Arm

Around 1200 mi. I started noticing my left wrist and arm getting numb and sore after long drives. The problem is steering wheel vibration (I believe particularly high frequency) while driving but also while stopped and idling. Now at 1400 mi. my entire Arm gets sore w/ just my short 15min. commute. I'm trying to drive more w/ my right hand but it's not as safe or enjoyable as always having my left hand on the wheel. I'm certain my wrist and arm are more sensitive to vibration than most (probably some nerve problem), but this doesn't happen driving the family Outback - that has wheel balance problems or past cars (even my 240 w/ bad wheel balance at the end).

I'll take this problem up with a dealer (as soon as I decide on the best one in my area...that's not many mi away).

Oh I hope the high frequency vibration can be damped a bit. I even tried wearing thick winter gloves to no avail.

Has anyone else noticed subtantial high frequency engine vibration coming through the steering wheel?

I certainly enjoy the feedback from the road - but I desparately need this buzzing feedback to be attenuated.

So has anyone besides Internetabyss taken their car in about the gear grinding issues? It appears this issue exists on my car, but I can't decide if I should take it to my dealership that I have been going to or the dealership that Internetabyss went too (it's local). I guess eitherway this won't be resolved very quickly....it's tough knowing that Nissan North America Regional Office (and the guy that led the fixing of IA's car) is about 2 minutes from my work. Thoughts?

o faint rattle on the passanger side, have not figured it where it is coming from, can only hear it on quiet highways.( and no it is not the visor)
o Nav. compartment door jams and refuses to open, have to tap it a few times
o base-audio buttons jam, have to tap it lightly a number of times to get it to work ( the CD/FM/AM buttons)

fogging head lights are gone.

Default Problems I have noticed.

Well I have notice the wheel vibration, but I thought it was just me with 20's on my car.. The other problems I have is my left thumb keeps feeling faint.

I think that is from me having to geive the THUMBS UP reply back to everyone else on the road.

I have not heard of this problem before. I wouldn't wait long to take it to a dealer for correction, it doesn't sound good.

I installed a Hyper Ground System today and this problem went away.
