According to what ChinaClipper posted:

"integral lithiuum battery that is permanently potted into the plastic housing along with the sensor"

That sounds like they're not replaceable.

Sorry my friend -- batteries NOT replaceable! The whole tire valve assembly has to be replaced. Hopefully, with Nissan making the TPMS standard for all 2005 and on 350Zs, the unit price of the TPS will drop.

You guy forgot about nissan pixie dust that powers them. It also makes the tires feather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be surprised if the TPS sensors outlive the battery anyway. When you consider the vibrations and shock that they go through, I'm more concerned of them failing after just a couple of years than the battery dying.

I agree, the sensor will proably break before the battery gives out.

Considering that its only "on" while the wheel is turning, and it proably isnt a real time transmission, its proably updated every 2-3 min unless thier is some sort of sudden change of TP.

Thus the circurity is on maybe 1 second at most to read the presure and 1 second to send the info then it sleeps for some time. My educated guess on how the TPS sensor works.
