Well, at least we know a turbo set-up will fit... gotta wonder how they're getting the power down with no aftermarket clutch application that I (nor Victor ) know of?

Cool Uh, oh

Hate to rain on anyones parade, but that motor has only a few short hours to live in current configuration.
Why would anyone run 14PSI on a motor that has a baseline compression of 10.3?

Like it was said before, are they trying to see how good the
blow-up is going to be?

This is silly, really silly.

Nice plumbing work, I like the idea, but please do something about different pistons, LIKE RIGHT NOW!!!

I hate to see a VQ go to waste.

Where is the turbo on this thing? Also, isn't it a strange looking intercooler? But I do want to see the wheels. Not sure about the front spoiler.

Well, maybe they just want to see exactly how durable the engine is? That's why they are running with such high boost. Hopefully they have a spare!

It doesn't matter if the internals are forged or not, with the Z's compression, they're going to have to do a lot of skilled tuning to get that car running well and reliably...

Wouldn't the open deck block design cause issues before the forged internals?

I think part of the problem with the WRX transmission is that the car is AWD. This creates an added stressor to the trans, as the engagement is more of an instant on type of deal. But, that isn't saying that this turbo application wouldn't overload the trans anyways....

awd isn't the flaw, it's just that hard awd launches stress the transmission more than rwd/fwd cars since all that strain just produces wheelspin. in awd cars the transmission ends up brunting it. specifically for the wrx, in the north america market they used a different transmission in the wrx than on the sti in japan/europe. the sti's transmission can handle the additional power.

I'm not meaning to say that AWD is a flaw, I'm meanign to say that it's an additional factor in the quick destrustion of a lot of transmissions on cars with AWD. You have to deal with four tires' grip instead of just two. This creates a lot more stress on the transmission when you decide to launch the car hard. My car chirps and then is gone... there is not really much wheelspin, just the chirp. If it were not AWD there would be a lot of wheelspin on the drive wheels, because there would not be enough traction. This means that there is more stress on my transmission, therefore, the AWD IS a factor in how quickly the transmission deteriorates.

I think we're arguing basically the same thing, though... jasonintoronto.

As a seperate item they will probably sell a thicker copper head gasket to you to lower the compression and can handle the preasure. Who knows they might include it in the kit. if you search technical forums you can find out what the internals of the engine are made of.

I've heard that a thicker gasket isn't a good thing to do. Is it reliable?

Generally speaking, modified cars are less reliable... it's just how much less reliable the kit will be.
