top speed
I've done 215km/h which i think is 134 miles and thats without using 6th. And boy was it stable, I did 195km/h (121 miles) in my old 1.8L lancer, it started making some strange windy noises in the cabin at 170km/h (106 miles)
i had to slow down. ive been to 159 before and i was hoping to get to 160 but there wasn't enough road before it started to curve up ahead. once i get new tires (mine are pretty worn out now) i'll be heading out to try and break 159 and see where the governor stops me.
im not sure if it will get past 159 but id like to see if it will and if it does where it will stop. it is also highly likely that the speedometer is off by a few mph so i wont really know how fast i actually go.
how's the vette by the way? the ls2 with the z51 package must be a total beast.

Figuring out the top speed in your Z is really easy. Put the car in 6th gear and run it to half of the max RPM's....for example if you car redlines at 7K RPM's....put the car in 6th gear and run it to 3500 RPM's, double the current speed you are at, and that is the highest capable speed of the Z. Of course the Gov will stop you before you get there!

but arnt there other factors to take into consideration like outside conditions such as wind and weight of load the car is carrying at that moment
it was somewhere between 6000-6300 rpm. at that speed i was concentrating more on the road. i think the light that tell me to shift started flashing which would mean it was around 6200-6300 because my light starts flashing at 6200rpm.

Yep, at 159mph (kept it there for about 10 seconds) I was around 6k rpms
regularly drive in excess of 200Km/h - have taken out few friends at about 220 - 240 Km/h - even drove it at ~250 Km/h few times - with passengers for long strecthes - example; cover distance of 360Km's in 2 hours (incl. passing through 5 towns)
Passed a mustang GT and saw my Z climb past 130 on the digital speedometer (in 5th) and it was still pulling hard when my cell phone rang and i thought it was my radar detector. I stood on the brakes..............WOW

In the Z I have gone 110.
In my old Porsche, I went Daytona Beach to Miami in 1hr 45mins.
I had the cruise set at 140 for a long time. My buddy had his window down and was sleeping. He woke up with some serious bed head....
Dumbest thing I have ever done. Never do it again, but it still is my top speed.
In the Porsche I hit 160's every once in a while. The car was actually perfect at about 110-120. Everything was smooth and quiet at that speed.
I really don't have the need for top speed any more. I prefer 0-80. If I could, I would trade my 120-159mph top end of the Z for a quick 3.2 sec romp to 60.
