Look at the bright side, you'll never run out of gas.

I've been at empty with the Miles Till Empty gauge flashing --- and driven 37 additional miles. When I filled up, it filled with 18.5 gallons. So our fuel gauge probably measures to 17-18 gallons while we have a 20 gallon tank. Same thing with my brother's 3.5 Altima

Perhaps it's a built in safety factor for those who hate to buy gas. Do you know it costs no more to drive with a full tank of gas than it does with an empty tank??

it's for the idiots who like to drive when it hits empty and see how far you can go. there are about 2 gallons of gas in the hoses once the "empty" light comes on. it's a safety feature. it's so you don't hit empty and automatically stall and have to walk to the gas station.
