Wow, did this thread every go awry!!!

Like the OP, I will be "storing" my car, but my philosophy on this is a little different.

First, I would imagine that most people don't live places where once the first snow falls, their Z simply can't be driven again until the spring thaw. There may be a week or two at a time where the roads are icy, snow covered or wet, which are the times when I won't drive my car. If the roads are salty but dry, I'll get 'er out for driving. My thinking is this: Its' probably worse to let the car sit without movement all winter long than it is to get a little dry salt on the undercarriage every couple of weeks through the season. I'll just get under it with a hose in the spring and spray it down real well to prevent corrosion. By doing this, I won't have to worry about which seals have dry-rotted and leaking because I didn't keep them lubricated through the winter.

Do I think my car is an Enzo? Absolutely not, but I have shelled out over 40K in hard-earned cash for it so far, and in my book, that warrants my efforts to preserve its value and condition. It doesn't make sense for me to drive my Z in the snow when I happen to have a front-drive car who's condition I am not as concerned with and that handles better in such conditions.

Do I TREAT my car like an Enzo? Yep, I sure do, because just like an Enzo, there isn't another car in the area just like mine. In fact, you're FAR more likely to see an $80,000 Porshce here than you are a Z that looks like mine. It's uniqueness has its own value to me.

If you don't have a second car or a place to park it, that doesn't mean you wouldn't put your Z up if you could. It's just a 'luxury' that some of us have and choose to take advantage of.

Well said kcobean.

I only kept it stored last winter for 3 months....and my garage was very well ventilated. I too took it out, once a month on very dry days just to keep fluids flowing.

But to answer Zecstasy's question, last winter I simply inflated my tires to almost 50psi to reduce any flat spots, filled the gas tank to the top, washed, waxed and covered it. In the spring I took it for an oil change and it was as good as new!!

Here's to treating your car like an Enzo!

Why did you have to say winter is coming? I can't believe October is right around the corner.

Anyway, I'm a Clevelander as well and I will be doing what kcobean does. I'll drive it on the nice days & keep her parked on the $hitty days. It's an el nino year, so we are suppose to have a mild winter (keeping fingers crossed). I can't take many more of these Cleveland winters.

you would suspend liability and collision and maintain only comprehensive. If you have a lender, you would need to clear this with them.

Move South (coming from someone who drives a 4x4, not the Z, when it rains)

Stored it last year and storing it again this year. I save $350 alone on insurance being lowered not counting gas, maint, and what not.

I did take it for a few spins last year, but this year, she is going under the whole time. Only time I will take her out, is to warm her up for 30 min once a month then back under the knife.

Battery maintainer, tank full of gas, fluids topped, fresh Mobil-1, car cover, and lets not forget carpet for the tires to rest on.

I live .05 miles from work, so no biggie on driving.

My Maxima will get a full workout this winter.

Yeah, I dread storing her, but with all the salt, crushed rock, potholes, plows and the famous weak nissan paint, I feel it's best to keep my baby indoors this winter.

$30,000 dollar car? if i had more money i would still buy a Z,from now on don't wash or wax your car just "dramn the damn car" until it breaks down.its not a smart investment to put money into a car ...into any car it will always lose value...unless its an enzo.Thats never the point into buying a sports car.

With me i put my Z in the garage every night its like my girl that i take car of,i'm not gonna drive it through the snow or offroad tommyboy is just taking care of it even though its just a $30,000 dollar car, nothing wrong with babying your car right?
