Default how many miles was your first tranny flush

I have about 17,500 miles. Wondering how many miles were on your cars when you did your first flush/fill? What kind of tranny fluid did you use? And how much was charged? I have a manual tranny btw.

Yup, 5AT here, too. Auto tranny is Fill-For-Life. You couldn't fill or flush it if you wanted to, it's sealed. Downside is if you need to service it Nissan has to do it. The ATF is even Nissan proprietory.

30K and I filled it with Redline.

Will (recommends fluid flushes at every 30k)

I think you'll find that very few people have even come close to enough mileage to think about changing out the manual transmission fluid, unless they've had a transmission problem. The oldest U.S. Z is only 2 years old in a couple of months.

I also have AT. The manual says change it at 30k miles. It has to be changed! Im sure it could be flushed and refilled.

Nope. You can't flush or open the AT without violating Nissan policy. Its fill-for-life meaning its one-and-done. 30k is for the MT.

Wrong. Look under your hood and see if you can find a place where you can check it, much less refill it.

I went to have my rear diff and gear box fluid changed@7500 miles with my oil change...service manager thought I was nuts...I wanted to flush out any filings/debris from break-in...he basically refused (I think he was afraid of liability, becuase of some of the tranny issues?)...so at 10k I'll try again, if not I'll go to dealership manager and speak to him...if no luck this time I'll try somewhere else

If you really want it done, take it to an independent shop. However, he's right. No need for it unless you've done some kind of no-no.

I drained and re-filled both my manual transmission and rear differential on my own at about 4K. My reason: to get rid of any break in debris, and to change over the fluids to redline. On both the tranny and differential there is a top fill plug and a bottom drain plug. Crack open the top first and then remove the bottom. Let drain, replace bottom and use some sort of cheap hand pump to pump the fluid up into the top opening. Not difficult at all.

Best reason of all - changing out to replace with synthetic.

I put Castrol GL-5 85W-90 in my tranny. Is GL-5 ok even though it says GL-4.

Isn't GL-5 higher and compatible with lesser GL ratings?

changed to Amsoil Series 2000 75W-90 at 3k to help in the shifting feel- it worked like a charm.
It handles GL-1 through GL-5 so it is perfect for both the 6MT and the rear diff.
