Turn + Dirt + RWD + Sign = ****ed up night
Well... not even 1300 miles on her, and she's already going in. Pulling out of a driveway tonight, hit a patch of dirt, over corrected, and ran into a No Passing Sign. Was probably only going 5 to 10 mph, but cracked the front bumper from the bottom up 1/2 the way... need a new windshield washer container, new wheel well plastic, and probably an alignment and headlight adjustment... I am pissed and embarrassed...

maybe this will make you feel better,
I totalled my first Z after a day and a half with about 260 miles on it. Bought it with 7. Coming from a truck, I thought I was superman or something. I assumed the tires that came with the Z were great tires and took a corner too fast, provoked oversteer, jumped the curb, knocked down one of those huge 50ft palm trees. Aside from some minor bruises, I was completely fine. So yeah, feel lucky you just have minor bumper damage

I actually made a $3150 profit by totally my car via gap insurance. Did some more reading during my 2 days of down time. Bought a slightly used 03 track model with 1478 miles on it that was babied by the owner. Saved a lot of money going that route, now got some decend money to mod

1st thing I did was blame myself. I mean how could I not? I was the one driving the car. This happened awhile ago so I'm just summerizing some points. For those that want to know all the factors involved:
I didn't understand the concept of understeer/oversteer and what causes it - my fault
I went in the corner too hot. - my fault
I let off the gas when I started going into the turn though I did not brake during the turn - my fault
I was trying to stay completely in the right lane vs going in a good line (this was a road with no traffic so I could've used the whole road) - my fault
there was sand on the road during the turn that I should have seen or reacted to quicker - my fault
Granted the tires are sorta ok, but why do all Z owners complain about the tires grip being poor? I mean, if the tires are perfect, why change them out? On tirerack.com the stock tires are getting 6's and 7's all over the place on their ratings vs others 9.3's - my fault for not being aware these aren't "great" tires and making the assumption that they were.
lastly, this is not my thread nor is it about me. I was just trying to make the guy feel better about his messed up bumper. PM me if you guys have the urge to rub it in. I will attest to the Z's 5 star crash rating though.
Because of the accident, I've taken it upon myself to really start learning driving techniques for driving fast and also being more aware of the car's limit at least in stock form.
