Default Hit a bump = left side speakers go out... HELP!

I have 6500~ miles on my 2004 Roadster. Loving it btw!

It appears that while listening to any CD my left side speakers will go very low volume for some random amount of time. I noticed this only happens while listening to a cd.

Last night while driving home it happened again. To test something I switched to the radio and all speakers worked, but then I switched back to cd and the left side was still out.

Halfway to work the speakers came back on and then 15 mins later they went out again. arghh

So it appears there is a problem with the cd player? Anyone else had this problem?

Cheers!

Ok called the dealership and talked to a service rep. He said that is common and that he will reorder a new head unit.

Cheers to nissan service. (thus far)

It is a common problem.

I had it too. Curiously, when I unloaded all 6 CD's and reloaded them, the problem stopped.

If it happens again, I'm getting the HU replaced.

Hey I have the left speaker problem to even when pressing the gas at times the speaker would cut off, but when I press the brake it would come back on. The dealer I go to tries to blame it on the burned CD's, but they are playing fine in all my other cars...The thing that annoys me the most is that I went to the Nissan Dealer of Fergus about 10 times to get it repaired goes ok on the way to home, but one bump and there the problem is again...I got a lot fo things replaced from HU to amplifier IDK what else...I have another appointment ot drop the car off to get fixed, then said I am the only Z with this problem so happy to hear form u guyz!!!

Glad to hear i am not the only person with this f'd up problem. I wonder what could cause this. My dealership has ordered me a new HU so I guess we will see this coming Wednesday.

jcn30127: I tried your method and it helped a bit with the volume but it still sounds very crackly and extremely weak in comparision to the right side speakers. (using the balance controls)

yeah, mine did the same thing, and i just brought my G into the shop yesterday, they replaced it with out any problems. If you're too lazy, i found hitting the head unit sideways works to get the sound back.
But, yeah, they'll replace it

When I go to get the headunit replaced do you think I would be able to hang around while they fix it. IE, I dont want them to f**k anything up....and believe me I hate having to take my car(s) to the dealership. THEY GO IN WITH 1 PROBLEM and LEAVE WITH 2!

So can I ask to go back into the service bay while they replace the HU?

Funny you guys say this.....I have a 2004 touring and have noticed that when i stop a little harder than usual the left front tweeter cuts out. Dealer changed head unit but the problem came back. SO using my 5+ years of experience in car audio I took out the tweeter and looked at it. Apparently the voice coil seems unwound and would separate from the magnet. I feel that this comes from cranking the Vol. up to hear the radio when the windows are open.
So goto the dealership, hand the service guy $50 and get all new speakers with no hassle...IMO

For $50, you can get better speakers than the sh#$ stock ones. You actually tipped your service guy $50? Sweet..
