Default Radar Jammers

Hey everyone, well i'm feed up with cops. I got a ticket this weekend for 85 in a 65 by radar. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with radar and laser jammers. I was looking at the escort shifter ZR3, does anyone have any feedback on this jammer. Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks Zach

The ZR3 laser jammer works. I have it on my car. But there are no effective radar jammers on the market. For radar, you have to depend on a good detector, such as the Escort Passport, to warn you soon enough to slow down. Fortunately, with radar, you usually do get a warning soon enough to slow down. With laser, by the time you get the warning, they've got a reading on you. So the laser jammer is a must in areas where they use laser.

This has been an issue on the forum before and it's not that I approve of speeding but it's not like you don't go over the speed limit. Just because you didn't get caught doesn't mean you're not speeding. They guy asks a question about the radar detector and I doubt he want to see anybody's "smart" comments.

I will say no more on this matter.

I DO speed, and if I get caught and cited, well then I except Full responsibility for my actions. Ive gotten 3 citations for moving violations in my life, (2 were for speeding). How about considering, also, many LEO's dont primarily use Radar to determine your speed, There are other ways they can do that.....You want a device (not sure if its legal in your state), that will win you an extra citation, fine. My point is, except responsibility for your actions, without remarks like above : "Im getting sick of cops", who are doing their F***ing job.

Being that I am a former police officer, I will tell you that there really isn't a device (legally) that will defeat a radar/lidar (laser radar). A radar detector is basically a reciever and the radar a transmitter. By the time the detector alerts, a good officer will already have a lock on you. Most officers use the "Instant On" method or stealth mode, meaning they don't have the radar constantly on. They will activate the radar for only a few seconds if they suspect someone is speeding. This is mostly used by hand held radars. And as I said before, by the time your detector alerts, it's too late. Word of advice, if you speed, try to stay just 8-10mph over the speed limit. Here's a radar secret: it works on angles. The greater the angle between the radar and your car, the less accurate the radar will be. Example, if you're on a 4 lane interstate divided by a median (two lanes on ea. side) and you're going say north and the officer is going south and speed limit is 70 and you're going 80 the officer's radar will probably say that you're going 77-79 depending on the degree of angle. The radar will err to your advantage. 9 times out of 10 the officer won't even pull you over. Then again there's always 1 that will pull you over for doing 5mph over and being the ******** that he is, he'll probably write you a ticket too. By law, they can scroll you a "coupon" for even doing 1mph over. So, BEWARE. Hope this helps. I'll prob get a lot of flack from current cops, but OH WELL. Been there, done that!

I don`t know if I`m in the minority here, but I believe there is a responsible way to drive fast.
I`ve been out on wide open flat stretches of freeway by myself early in the morning were there is not a car in sight for miles in front or behind me and have had my Z up to about 240 Km/ph.
I don`t go speeding down the freeway or in the city cutting through traffic in and out of lanes like one of these punks in their lowered, neon lit Honda Civics.
I usually drive about 10 or 15 KM`s over. Cops here give a 19 KM an hour grace.
I have a Bel RX-65 and it has saved me a few times.

This may be true if you are alone on the highway. But if there is any other traffic at all, the cop will be taking readings, and a good radar detector will alert you before you come into range. An excellent technique to use when traffic is light is to find yourself another fast driver and stay about a half mile behind him. Let him flush out the cop while your detector gives you plenty of warning to slow down.

This *will not work* for laser. The beam is so narrow that a detector won't go off until your car has been targeted. The only countermeasure which works against laser is the laser jammer. The ZR3 is *very* effective for this. The cops in this area are starting to use Atlanta Laser units. These are considered the best laser units, but they cannot get a reading on a car equipped with the ZR3 until you get within about 50 feet of the laser. Meanwhile, the ZR3 will have been screaming at you to slow down for at least half a mile.

Good advice, particularly in Georgia where local cops have to give you 10 MPH by law. Note too that moving radar is rarely operated instant on, so a radar detector will typically give you plenty of warning about cops running moving radar.

Then again there's always 1 that will pull you over for doing 5mph over and being the ******** that he is, he'll probably write you a ticket too. Note that the allowable margin varies by State. In Georgia, state law forbids local cops from giving a radar ticket unless you are doing more than 10 MPH over the speed limit. State police *can* ticket for a lower margin, but very rarely do. (This law was passed to deal with local "speed trap" problems.) OTOH, in Ohio, they can, and often will, ticket for 1 MPH over the limit. You need to be aware of local practices.

I don't condone driving far in excess of the prevailing speed of traffic. But I also don't condone selective enforcement because you have a fast looking car. That's where radar detectors and laser jammers can keep you from being picked out of the flow of traffic and being given a ticket.

ACE, I completly accept responsibility for my actions, i was very polite to the cop and he still gave me a ticket, so he was doing his job. But i am just trying to prevent this from happening again so your negtive comments are not needed.
As for everyone else thank you for your comments, I think I am going to buy the ZR3, I'll let you know how it works.

I made two points.....

1. Accept responsibility for your actions...Judging by your above ^ post, you picked up on that one.

2. If you cant take responsibility, drive the speed limit. A radar jammer is Another "possible" citation, and radar isnt the only method cops use in determining a vehicle's speed.

I dont see anything negative about those points. Do you?

or maybe was it......this?

Remember, the ZR3 is only effective against laser. It will not jam radar, and it will not warn you of a radar trap ahead. For that you still need a good radar detector. I have the Escort 8500+, but the Valentine I is good too. (One big advantage of the Escort is that it is designed to work together with the ZR3, so you have an integrated countermeasures solution for both radar and laser.)

*Active* radar jammers are illegal in all states (against FCC regulations), passive radar jammers don't work. But radar detectors are legal in most states. IR emissions are unregulated by the FCC, so laser jammers and detectors are legal, except in a few places where *any method* of detecting speed measurement has been outlawed on a state level. (Virginia comes to mind.)

In not so sure about Virginia.............In Ca, a LEO can cite you based on Visual Determination. another Popular method, although more effective at night, ....The PACING method. Did you know, in some Academies in Ca, the Radar Class isnt Mandatory? Some officers arent even qualified to use it, therefore prohibited in doing so.

In Arkansas, well at least at the department that I used to work for, you have to be certified to operate the radar. Actually, any officer can use the radar and write speeding tickets but when and if the violator contests the ticket and it goes to trial, a good defense attorney will ask to see the officers certification record and if he is not certified....well case dismissed. Speaking of other methods, I was on Interstate 40 one day near Russellville when I noticed a small Cesna plane flying overhead. I noticed that it was flying parallel to the hwy and that's when I realized it was "clocking" speed violators, me being one of them. Sure enough, Troopers were ahead and flagged me and another driver over. Trooper said that the plane calculated me going 83mph in a 70 and true enough I was going that speed. I learned about this technique in the academy. It's very effective. There are 2 large white lines on or near the hwy at a measured distance apart. the officer in the plane measures the time it takes a person to get from one line to the other and then uses a formula to determine how fast the person is traveling. Very Very sneeky if your not aware.
