Default Dead Foot Petal Rest - How to put it on?

I took the dead foot petal rest off to get easier access to the fuse box. Now I cannot get a back on - it is loose and goes up and down on the screws.

Is there a trick to get this back on ?

The part looks like a piece of crap - does it strip easy? Seems like the plastic is not gripping the screws. Perhaps I need to buy a new one unless there is some special trick to get it back on.

Thanks,
Jerry

Yep it strips easy. Its a real POS. I got Nissan to give me a new one after I had a similar problem.

Did you put it back on yourself or did the dealer do it? It is a $16 part - if it is new is it pretty easy to put on ?

mine stripped too. after i had taken it off and put it back on it came loose while i was driving and pulled a hard turn one time. my solution to the problem was putting the pedal back over the thing it screws into and i gave it a good stomp. it hasn't come loose from it's position since.

To remove it, you have to take off the metal cover plate. Underneath are two plastic type locking mechanisms that need to be rotated with a screwdriver. If you did not do this, your are SOL. It is stripped or the plastic tabs are broken more specifically. Putting it on when new is easy. Just stomp it down in place. Just remember part one of this wehen removing.

PS: It is in the owners manual so take a look.
