Default 1.5 Year Review

Gotta say..it's been a great year and a half. I love this car.

around town, 1000 mile road trips...done it all and it all rules.

no problems whatsoever, even with all the mods.

I am so happy I bought a 350Z.

Best car I've ever owned.

Glad to hear, and you are prolly the very few of Z owners not having problems with this car.
Enjoy~

You mean the tire feathering issues? I'm probably 6 months away from getting a Z myself. Thanks to sites like this one, I'm more educated about issues that could arise.

What we neeed to find is a dealership with a tech that has a 350Z himself. Then he'd be completely **** about his car just like us and he's know EXACTLY how to fix it right the first time.

So scary how much I've learned from this forum. It has allowed me to stand my ground against sneaky and/or stupid dealers.

I must also say that I am VERY happy with the "Z". NO major problems beyond those that ALL of us know or have read about (i.e. Feathering, Window Grease, Bose Amp and 6 CD Player).

I agree. Aside from the few times I've said "damn, I wish I'd bought an automatic" when caught in traffic jams, or "damn, I wish this seat was an inch wider" when I forget to remove my wallet before getting in, I've been very impressed and very happy with this car.

I won't say it is the best car I've ever owned (over 30 at last count). But it is the best car *of its type* that I've owned.

shopdog,

Its funny how I feel the same thing. Ever since I owned the Z, I don't put my wallet in the back pants.

I think I would drive about anywhere within 5 or 6 hundred miles to go to a tech like that. The one here in the Quad Cities is pretty knowledgable but isn't as **** as I am

No offence .

Maybe future Zzzz owners ought to measure their butt size (with wallet) before buying!

LOL!

Talking Regardiong seat width

Funny you should mention this. Nissan Japan actually did a "field test" locally, of a modified seat design that ("ahem!") was modified to more cater to the posteriors of American drivers earlier this spring. After an unsuccessful test, the seat was removed, the trials Z33 returned to stock condition, and the seat shipped back to Nissan. No word yet on any forthcoming changes.

None taken. I'd have to section my hip bones to go narrower.
I am a big guy.

Why was the test unsuccessful?

Hahaha, just take the big stack of $100 bills out of the wallet to reduce the thickness.

The test seat failed to deliver an improved comfort level as well as permit better clearance for the driver's thighs with respect to the steering wheel and center console.

I don't have any thigh clearance issues with the steering wheel. The problem I have is that I'm sitting partially on the seat bottom and partially on the bolsters on each side (same with the back). That gets very uncomfortable.

I've been thinking about taking the leather off, shaving the foam to give it a more gentle bucket contour, and putting the leather back on. So even though the seat won't be wider, it won't gouge me while I'm sitting in it.

The only thing stopping me from already doing that is that I've got the side airbags. I'm a bit leery of stripping the seats with those bombs installed. I suppose I could *pay* someone else to do it.
