Default 350z Bose System Highlights?

I haven't seen much posted on this, but can anybody comment on some of the items that are specified on a Bose fact sheet for the 350z that dealers have issued with pre-orders.

1. Digital amplifier with 5 channels of customized equalization and signal processing mounted in the rear of the vehicle.

2. Proprietary signal processing - automatically adjusts tonal balance so that the listener hears natural sound without distortion at all volume levels.

3. Bose Audio Pilot noise compensation technology.
What does Audio Pilot do?
- A microphone listens to both music and all sources of unwanted noise
-It then communicates with the Bose signal processing to continuously and seamlessly adjust the musical output in real time
-Music is no longer masked by the noise

4. Bose 10inch Nd woofer- woofer uses a powerful neodymium iron boron magnet with 10x the density of a conventional speaker magnet and only 1/10 the size.

5. Active equalization circuitry-is custom designed for the Nissan 350z providing natural tonal balance and clarity throughout the audio spectrum by electronically balancing the output of all frequencies at all times. This means all passengers can appreciate lifelike musical performance without having to constantly adjust controls.

6. 10 inch Nd subwoofer powered by two-state modulation amplifier.

I am not to familiar with the above stated specs, wondering if anybody can expand my knowledge, or whether anyone has heard of a comparable system, or can expand on any of these items.

BOSE systems are really odd. They've been like this since the 70s.

Rather than rely on the *speaker* to recreate an accurate sound, they take a speaker, apply equalization to it, and then tweak it for its position, etc.

This is good and bad. In audiophile world, equalizing your signal is a horrific no-no. However, in something like a car environment, materials like the carpet, seats, etc, may soak up certain frequencies, road noise may overpower others, etc. So in a car environment, this isn't quite so odd. But then again, even reading through the list you can see that Bose has ZERO qualms about stomping all over the integrity of the signal itself - first, the 5 channels of cusomtized equalization means that each speaker is slightly different in what it is outputting. Then, they change the "tonal balance" at different volume levels.. ??? ...

The ND (neodynium?) woofer - ND is just a "stronger" type of magnet than conventional magnets. It allows speaker manufacturers to build smaller, more powerful woofers.

Some of that is interesting - for instance, the autopilot stuff I actually consider a nice touch. But the Bose system is rarely for purists...

Any way you look at it, it's still an OEM system and OEM systems almost always suck
