Default what to do? wheels or performance???

Well i'm in a toss up. i want to get 19" volk gt-c's but i also would like to go performance. Can you guys give me your input as to what i should do first? If i go performance i'm looking into crawford plenum, cats, strut tower bar, UR crank pulley, jwt clutch and flywheel. What are your opinions?

You got intake and exhaust. It is time to set your car apart from the rest with those GT-Cs. You will get much more enjoyment out of those.

Deffinitly wheels!

Reasons :

#1 - You will probably notice more of a gain in performance in both acceleration and cornering. With some nice tires it REALLY wakes the car up in the turns and also off the line.

#2 - The stock wheels are fugly, the stock tires blow.

#3 - The car will looks like a compleatly different machine with new wheels and wider tires. Really wakes the car up in the looks department.

#4 - The Z does not gain much power with bolt ons anyways, which is why I say you will notice more of a gain with some new wheels/tires.

Volk is a good choice, they are generally light weight and even with 19's, the wheels will be lighter then the tanks that come on the Z. Just make sure you get the right offsets/tire sizes.

After that start with your bolt ons.. Exhaust, HF cats, headers, plenum, intake, ect.

BTW GTC's are awesome!

Wow, no votes for performance yet? BTW, would acceleration really be better with the larger rims? I understand the concept of having wider rear tires to put the power to the ground but acceleration off the line wouldn't suffer with a larger rim and wider tire? Does anyone know if the 19" GT-C's are heavier with tires on than the stock 18's with tires? I know the rim is lighter but what wins when the tires are on?

I agree... get the wheels/tires...that in itself is a performance mod anyways.

they will definately help to set your car apart from others.

I think the real question is how much mods are you going to do down the road. My take on mods is you have the make the car mod safe, then mod it. That takes patients and planning...

If you're patient mod first, if you're looking for instant gratification, go with the wheels.

I wouldn't go with the wheels because it leaves a huge gap between brakes and wheels. So if I was upgrading, I'd do the brakes as well. That's a good 6k.

For 6k I could also get a SC installed or engine work done, so I'd put off rims for now.

I'm looking to do everything down the road. Rims, all the bolt ons i listed previously, TT, brakes, etc. So i guess the rims should probably come first for me. Thanks guys!

Nice choice on the wheels, I purchased mine from Jeff at Evolution Autosports and was very pleased with the service and price. Mine are 19x9.5f and 19x10.5r with a 245/35f and a 285/35r tire, even with the car lowered I have no clearance issues. A set of wheels will deffinitly make the car look much more agressive.

ThreeFifty that is one hot car. i like it alot. The kit and the wheels look great together!!! But yes, i will be doing the wheels first then. I have made up my mind. Thanks for all the input. When I get the wheels i will probably buy springs for it also, possibly even do sway bars. If i'm lowering the car tho, do i need to buy new shocks or will the stock ones work fine?

You could get the entry level Tein coil overs for pretty cheap. Just remember you'll need something like adjustable upper control arms to get your camber back into spec.

Even just for the drop? Can someone explain these to me? I'm not too sure about what they are/do.

Eibach makes a camber kit, but I've never seen it installed. My wheels do sit like this /---\ in the rear with just eibach springs. If you plan to lower your car and drive the car daily, I think it would be a good investment to purchase a camber kit, or your new tires will show wear on the inside edge. Thanks for the positive response on my car, it makes all the work worth it. Check it out in Turbo Magazine this month.
