Thumbs down Rant about my POS 350z

Lets start with: My car's idle drops to ~400rpms when coming to a stop for a second or so (feels like the car is about to die), then goes back to the normal ~750rpms. It does it when fully warmed up, every time! I will take the car to the dealer.

My 3rd transmission won't let me get into 6th gear sometimes (AT ALL). Last week it did it for the WHOLE day. The problem is, it only does it sometimes & I won't be able to "duplicate the problem" when I take it to the dealership!

When the 3rd trans was being put in, they were supposed to fix the rear axle clicking sound........they didn't

My seat clunks on turns

The steering wheel knocks when making a turn when the car is stopped.

Streaking windows.

Tires were replaced at 13K miles due to the "threading" or whatever problem. I am sure the problem will come back after a few K miles.

The hatch doesn't open on the first click.

I'm sure I missed a few as i am typing this off the top of my head, lol.

Rant: OFF

CONCLUSION: This sucks & I still love the damn car & can't imagine driving anything else!!!

That's the problem of having a first year car that you happen to love. Go to a good dealership. Thing most of the problems you described are covered by TSBs and your warranty. Three transmissions btw, puts you into lemon law territory.

Wow, did you say third transmission? Shouldn't that fall under a lemon law or something? I give you mad props for your patience. I wouldn't be able to sleep until my Z was running perfect. Hope everything is worked out soon!

Thanks for the replies. Of course that these things are covered, but once the service manager starts knowing you by name, it gets funny. It gets ANNOYING to have to be coming back all the time. So this time I made a list to try to get EVERYTHING handled at once (my original post).

My patience wouldn't be nearly this good without the LOVE (hehehe) for the car, seriously.

Plus, the dealership I have been working with has been pretty nice so far. I am taking it in Monday, probably.

I forgot another issue: The fuel door doesn't open with one click! (there is a bulletin for this too)

I need to prove that this 3rd transmission is bad in order to qualify for the lemon law! Knowing my luck, I won't be able to "dublicate" the problem......

If I do get rid of the car (through lemon law or otherwise), guess what car I'm gonna get?????

You guessed it: ANOTHER 350Z hehehehehe

My car does the same thing when stopping. Not all the time but some times. I thought it was my tilton clutch sticking. But maybe not.

thats exactly the problem. its a PITA to have to take it in to the dealership every couple weeks. I have most of my problems fixed by now. the only thing I need to take it back for is the window streaking but i already took it to the dealer like 4 times in 2 months

BUT like you said I still love it

theres plenty of flawless 03's and lemon 04's.

this whole 03, 04 distinction is like some giant line to us. to the factory; you think they really change anything on the line? they implement a few design changes like a new cigerette lighter or something. but they dont wait for "04" till they fix a known problem that they could fix; they make those changes on the fly.

unfortunaly all manufacturing has tolerance; and if you have too many things that by chance were at the edge of tolerance all together; you get a lemon. happens on everything.

Glad for you that you're up to living with it.
If you weren't you'd be having my problem... trying to trade my Z for an S2k I found out that nissan won't give honda more than 22000 for my loaded 03 touring with 15K on the odo. My car if in flawless condition and I've only had minor problems with it (widow streaks and such).
Needless to say I thoroughly pissed that my car seems to have lost 14 grand in a year and a half and 15000 miles.
What irks me even more is that nissan has no problem then turning around and trying to sell used Z's just like mine for 30k.

i think, they will give you back money but deduct like how much you actually drove on it. you wont get all the money back, but a good amount.

There is such a thing as a "lemon". Not all cars are equal even if they are the same model and year. It might be time to explore this avenue. I hope you have kept a diary and meticulous records of every problem you have encountered with your car.
