As for guidance, I'm not an expert, but I can only tell you what I did considering I ran a 14.5 in a bone stock G35 6MT... with my spare tire. and in 45 degree tire unfriendly weather.
You'll also notice my launch wasn't that great with all the wheel hop. That was only my fourth time ever running the 1/4 mile. Two priors were the same night.
1st run was a 15.3 with a 2,000 RPM clutch dump. VDC was off via the switch, but the slip light kept coming on and killed my throttle. Especially on the 1st-2nd shift.
2nd run was a 15.0 with no clutch dump. I just slowly released the clutch and as soon as I felt it catch, I floored the gas. I pulled the ABS fuse to completely kill VDC that time. The run was better, but the car really bogged down without a clutch dump, trying to get moving.
3rd run was a 14.5 with 1,000 clutch dump. Still too much wheel hop. I think if I dump at 1,000 and then feather the throttle until it catches, my times should improve.
The only other thing I can tell you is practice, practice, practice. The best I can hope for with a bone stock G35 is a 14.2. You should see 13.8's with your 350z once you get some experience.

Lets have a meet away from e-town one day. $12 is kind of steep for just watching. I liked the races but it wasn't really worth it, since I really just wanted to see the Z's. Maybe we can have a meet at Menlo or something.
