i dont think anything like this has been posted... here goes:

notice the color codes, and the matching paint type at the bottom...

daytona blue is the only clear pearl metallic

also, the handles are referred to Chromium plated...

From what i see black, red, and brickyard have a hard clear coat. all the other colors dont. i'll bet you anything those colors dont chip as easy. WHOEVER has chips in there car tell the color of it. lets see how my theory pans out.

My Daytona Blue has a sticker on the inside of the hood stating it has a hard clear coat. That contradicts the chart above. I wonder which is correct. Anyone one else with a Daytona Blue have that sticker?

Have we ever determined for sure if Chrome Silver is clear-coated?

I have quite a few chips in my CS across my front. So I can assure you it's definitely not hard clear coat.

Thank You. Sorry to hear about your chips. Wanted to know so I could select either Zaino 2 (for clear coat) or Zaino 3 (for regular paint) for my Chrome Silver.

Guys, the CS is absolutely clear coated. My scratch goes through it, so it's very easy to tell.

I would think there are very few cars out now a days without a layer of clear coat. I can't think of any. Even our old early 1980's Honda CVCC had clear coat. I know because after decades of using dish washing soap to wash the car, the clear coat began to peel off.

Here's something that may further confuse the issue:

1) I have some rock chips on my Daytona Blue paint. (Touch-up paint coming soon.)

2) However, it also _had_ a hairline scratch on the hood. The hairline scratch was removed by the dealer's body shop. The scratch was able to be removed because the guy at the body shop said that it was just a scratch in the "clear coat".

So, are we all agreed that the Chrome Silver (and all the other colors for that matter) are in fact clear coated?

What is the difference between pearl and metallic? My LeMans definately has metallic flecks in it, but it's called pearl on that chart.

Yup, my CS had a scratch above the window on the driver side while shipping.... it was only in the clear coat and it buffed out.

Anyone know where to go to get this type of hard coat work done? My car needs a replacement bumper and the guy at the shop said he has no idea what hard coat is or how to work with it. I'm in Boston if anyone knows a shop or something.

Any Magnetic Black (paint code G41) users here that can tell me which Zaino they use? Nobody has a manual for the 2006 yet, so we don't really know. Rumor had it that the MB is a 2 coat pearl, but just wanted to make sure.

Use Z-2 for clearcoat finishes.

PPW Chips fairly easy... :-(

I am having my front repainted after 36k already.

Eh, oh well... it's like a woman the older it gets the more make up has to be applied.
