A good trick is to go tele and photograph a car from a distance. Then your background will be blurred to the maximum using manual settings. Better yet is to select the car with the point-to-point tool and blurr the background a bit. With some nifty tricks you can make it appear naturally.
It's a damn shame these cars are so rarely seen, everytime i see one my head turns almost 180 degrees

twins dude
Our triceps weel crosh you like leetle walnut
haha lol
nice work though, the black and white one is nice. You should get a small soft light kit though, I can tell that it would have helped to splash a bit of light onto the wheels, that way the dark areas can still be dark, but you'll get detail in the wheels

Hey JCD: can you direct me to any real good books on digital photography? also, if you know any real good books on photo shop 7, please let me know. thanks in advance.
btw, what kind of camera are you using. do you normally shoot with or without the flash? i have yet to use my flash, i like capturing the natural light. i found out that a tripod is a must for great pictures. here are a few more of my recent pics JCD. any constructive criticism is welcomed!
getting to understand PS 7 a little bit more
this pic is a bit slnted but can be fixed with photoshop

I dont have any books, practise is my teacher. So never took photography classes, but i will explain why i take great pictures.
I started with a Canon Powershot S10 (simple little point and shoot 2.1mp) then i bought a Sony DSC-F707 (hence www.f707.net) then i upgraded to my Canon EOS 10D and secondary 300D DSL camera.
Good tricks: Whitebalance manually, especially those garage shots need to be WB-manually. Those artificial lights fool the algorithms too easly. See the manual for that. And no; wb in photoshop is terrible (to correct it lateron) the best way to capture it in one frame with exact whitebalance. Use a plain white A4 sheet of paper for this.
Tripod with a handremote (wired) to trigger the shutter. Cause you need to go in slower shuttertime with these darker light enviroments (although, i have to with my dslr) to get that 'dreamy' effect. Also toy around with longer exposuretimes in 'near' complete darkness. You can archieve really nice frames with that.
An example of a longer exposure:
http://www.f707.net/portfolio/nightshade.htm
This shot was taken using a heavvy Bogen tripod with a 70-200mm f2.8 (very sharp lens) and exposure was for about 8 seconds at iso 100. Which brings me at iso, for these shots you dont use any higher then 200. You can go higher, but noise will get in your way. But this can be (especially in B&W photography) a very nice effect, you get that film-like look.
Further, the handremote (to trigger the camera to take a snap) without touching the camera is a must for low light photograpy. You can also use the timerfunction, but the downside is you need to wait 3 - 8 seconds for each picture. And some camera's jump back from timermode to 'direct' mode after a shot (like the Sony's do).
Your shots look already great, so you are much more evolved than you think in photography. But experimenting is never a waste of time. The transparent hood is nice, but you could also place a selection of the complete front hood as transparent, not only the engine bit.
Send me the shots in 1600x1200 resolution and i'll show you what i mean. (jgenders@box.nl)

Resolution is not entirely the issue, taking shots correctly rightaway IS the issue. But with editing every megapixel counts. And with cropping a higher format is better to work with.

The dutch Nissan side had hired the local track for one day, it was a Nissan Circuit Experience day. Where 50 Z owners could participate in various events like making circular drifts around pylons and breaking exercises. And most of all, drive in your own Z over the "Zandvoort-Track". I had the oppertunity to do a lap myself... was really great. I could have gone a bit faster, but we drove in groups.
Anyway: see the pictures;
