Default Sticking speedometer needle

Probably just a glitch in my Z but....I have a 2004 roadster (3800 miles) and the speedometer needle started to stick today...would go up to about 30 then would hold and then jump to 45...at a stop it would hold at 45 and if I flicked the guage with my finger it would drop. Stopped doing this after about 5 miles or so....I do have that other digital gauge but was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them. I did call the dealer but was told that this couldn't happen (?) and I was probably looked at the wrong gauge (?), maybe the radio (??). I'll wait and see if it happerns again and then make an appointment. I did have the TSB page bookmarked but I can't seem to get it to open....is there another address for them? Thank you!

I have something similar with the speedometer needle, except mine involves the needle dropping 10-15mph during a consistent driving speed (i.e. driving 60mph, then needle will drop to 45 in an instant and then it'll creep back up to 60mph). Heck, I couldn't replicate this by slamming the brakes, mind you.

Well, since I can't predictably replicate this defect to the dealer, there isn't anything that they will do under warranty until it becomes "a problem."

Keep us posted with your experience.

Interesting....not knowing how fast you are going is NOT a problem when we are driving "an invitation to a ticket"? If it happens in the next few days it is going to the dealer. I'll let you know...and if you continue to have problems with yours, let me know what you do. Thanks!

Perhaps a quick sprint to about 150mph might unstick your spedometer needle.... Just a thought
