Default am i just stupid or is it my z

when i press the button to open up the fuel lid, nothing happens, i i jst kinda pull up on it and it opens, im not using a lot of force, so i was wondering if thats how you open it, or is it supposed to open up by itself.

Their is a tsb to fix your fuel door. In the mean time press it a few times and will pop up.

i took it to get it fixed with the TSB, but they couldn't duplicate the malfunction (like every other time i take the car).
I just push the button about 5 times so that i don't have to walk out of the car just to realize the fuel lid didn't open.

They did the tsb on my old mans car, and his works beautifully. I have yet to do it to mine, I am waiting for more of a reason to go. The 45min drive sucks.

I had the TSB performed on mine, works on the first try every time now. Apparently, they put slightly bigger rubber bumpers inside the fuel door to put more pressure against the release mechanism.

Mine's never failed to open, but that doesn't help with the problem of getting the car full of gas. The 350Z is the hardest car to fuel evAr.

Also, if you will just keep the hinges lubricated with WD-40 or something similar it will continue to work fine. Mine quit opening the first time after about a year. I lubed it and it has worked fine during the second year.

Hey thanks, I dont have a pic of his Brick yet but I do have some pics of our 1983 280zx. (sorry for the thread highjack) The windows are tinted now. Next up front air dam and new paint job!

before: the car was a mess

after: We did everything ourselves (including sound) I found those seats in a juck yard outta a 300zx, my dad put them in and they are functional now.

Sweet you have 3 Zs! I love those old 80s ones too...folks had an 85 (I believe) anniversary edition. I begged and begged them to keep it for me. I know those 300ZX's weren't the most popular cars among enthusiasts but they were SO COOL at the time (digital dash, talking voice, etc.).

Hope my 350Z holds up..I'd like to keep it a good long time.

1982 280zx. Wait. So the Z fuel door doesn't just pop open like the G35's? I just kind of push the door in and it pops open. It locks when the doors are locked too.

technical service bulliten: stuff your dealer doesnt want to know. Basically an easy diagnosis and fix for the techs, for problems you have with your car.
