I believe the subwoofer amp is located under the rear hatch floor.

Default Well I talk to my service advisor

To whom it may concern, my advisor says that doesn't sound like a nissan part #, but I am having him look into it. When did you get this done. Because some say there isn't a fix yeat and a service bulliten isn't out on this problem yet?

Not the dash, but most of the back end (trunk area) has to be taken apart to get to it. It's surrounded by hard foam, which is wedged underneath the trim panels for the sides and rear of the trunk. Expect at least 1/2 hr each for removal and re-install. The actual replacement of the amp is unbolting, unplug wires, switch amp, replug wires, and rebolt back to body. Then, replace all panels removed. It does come apart relatively easy, though.

Just came from my dealer after my first oil change (2400 miles). I asked about the service bulletin for the Bose fix. The service manager showed it to me. They have to call the 800 number for Clarion who makes the amp. The part number apperas to be a Clarion number not a Bose number. He did it while I was there and they said no problem and asked for the VIN number of my car. He got all the info and was told the replacement amplifier will go out in 2 days. The bulletin shows the location of the amp in the rear hatch area. So.. There is a service bulletin.. I saw it with my own 2 eyes, it has 2 pages, and it appears that the newer amp is already installed in cars above a certain VIN number right from the factory. I should have mine installed by the end of next week. The bulletin says it's a 1/2 hour job.

What's the TSB #? I don't want my dealer saying, "We have no idea what you're talking about."

Question-

my Z is scheduled to arrive 11/5/2002...assuming it does...would it be smart to call the dealer today or tomorrow, order the part, so they will have it in time to install the day I pick it up?

Of particular interest are the affected vehicles:

Vehicles built before: JN1ZA34E83T005616
Vehicles built before: JN1ZA34D63T104720
Applied Date: Vehicles built before: September 27, 2002

Guess mine is affected...
