Default Anyone Used to own a SE-R or Spec V Sentra?

Hey,
I have a 2002 Spec V, but I've been really debating about selling her and upgrading to the Z or perhaps a WRX. I was just curious if anyone else owned one and upgraded? What made you finally decide to upgrade and why did you choose the Z?

Also, the Spec V has a notoriously over sensitive knock sensor and a hit or miss crunchy gear box... these two things along with the semi-limited aftermarket have really discouraged me with my sentra. Anything that is essentially unfixable and frustrates you about your Z? Thanks.

yup, traded in my 03 specv for a z.

I wanted a Z for 15 years = dream car! hehehe

I LOVE it. btw. the spec wasn't bad just sucked
not having much aftermarket and an engine
that doesn't lend itself to FI.

You will find NO comparison between the two other
than the hamburger symbol.

Yeah, I had a 04 spec-v, but after my neighbor ran into the back of my car with his SUV, it was about half the size it use to be. As much as I loved the car, I didn’t think twice about getting a Z after the wreck.

previous specV owner here too! i loved the '02 specV but the Z is an overall better car in every aspect. one thing i missed about my spec was that it was funner to drive. i had alot of mods so the spec was torquey. I felt the power to my wheels more in the spec than i do in my Z because of the Z's broad power band. the thing i hate most about the Z is the cost of modding it. parts are so expensive!!!

vitaminZ - did you used to post over at b15sentra.net?
Your trunk set up looks familier... I was the one that built the customer fiberglass center channel speaker, and had the 5.1 surround sound dvd-audio setup.

My cousin's 95' Se-R is a freak!! He's running straight pipes w/a universal Apex muffler, intake and an ECU upgrade. I've raced him a couple of times and he actually pulls ahead of my Z in 2nd gear!?!? Of course, shortly after I put it in 3rd, I destroy him but that thing's pretty quick off the line.

I have a Silverstone 2004.5 350Z (Touring), and a Black 1990 300ZX (Z32) for my weekend cars.
The Sentra (2004) is my everyday driver.....its fun!

I love Z's and SER's.......ofcourse I'm a big Nissan fan.

I think my next car will be a truck. We flood alot in Houston and ground clearance is nice.

I'm thinking a 4x4 Jeep, I've always wanted one since I was a kid.
Hardtop, all black.

OH wow! I totally remember your car! I remember that photo shoot too w/ the planes. I saw your car right after I bought my 02 spec used and wanted to make mine look like yours! lol.

So like I said in the first post... other than the lack of aftermarket the gear box and knock sensor (causing SO MUCH inconsistency w/ the engine) are the two MAIN things that really keep me from going turbo to just wanting to keep the spec.... are there anythings like that with the Z? any unfixable problems?

Yeah, I had my 02 Spec V for a year before trading it in for a 03 DB Torung model. I had no problems with it, actually I had fun driving it against civics, it was a little sleeper that people don't know about. The aftermarket was cheaper than the Z. It is adviseable to sell the Spec V by owner, you loose alot at on a dealer trade in.
