Default New Road & Track

Has anyone seen the new edition of the Road & Track with the G-35 coupe? I know it isn't a "Z" but it isn't bad looking either. How do they come up with the pricing - You can get a G-35 coupe with leather, heated seats, side airbags, 6 spd manual, ABS with traction & vdc AND Brembo's for under $33k. The test car was $32 and some change w/ brembo brakes on it. Why does it cost $34k to get a Z with Brembos and you don't get leather, Bose or heated seats. Trust me I will keep my Z car.., but I don't know how they can come up with those prices.........

Most add-ons with the higher trims are dealer mark-up. I read it's something like $5400 out $8000. It's Nissan's way of saying "thank you for being a Nissan dealer." Sure lots of people here have the money to spare, and they don't mind, but I can't see buying anything over the Enthusiast myself. And even that's a rip if you consider the price of a LSD, I hear.

I'm sure things like Bose audio, Rays wheels, and Bremo brakes are very inexpensive for Nissan. Just putting names on it like that gets them advertizing dollars. And yet they charge thousands of dollars for these upgrades, when in reality the costs above low-trim models are close to nil. The $2000 NAV should only cost them around $200. But they've priced it just right to get the most money for the least effort. Since demand is high and people aren't really hurting over it, more power to 'em.

From the poll here, most people think it's priced too low.

Yeah well I don't feel like a schmuck paying the 2K for the nav cause every aftermarket nav system out there costs at least 2K anyway. So if it is true that Nissan is really getting them for 200 bucks than so is everybody else. Also, these overpriced dealer options still retain their value way more than aftermarket options do. When people go to sell their Z's in a few years to get new ones or somehting even nicer, they will be getting at leat 50 percent of what they paid for opposed to zilch if they went aftermarket.
