Default 2005 Z with feathering

Hey guys, I know theres tons of threads about feathering most concerning 03 and 04 models.

Anyone with 2005 model year Z's experience any sort of tire feathering?

Can any high mileage 05 owners (more than 6k) miles check in and confirm that this feathering problem has been resolved?

I would think after close to 3 years of production they would finally fix the 05 feathering problem permanently.

can anyone prove that something was done to fix the 05 models?

Damn, the 2005's have only been out for a month. I'd feel sorry for somebody that already got 6K miles on one. That's a LOT of driving.

I replaced my 04.5s tires in the first 300 miles and sold the stockers. Anyone have any experience with feathering on aftermarket tires? I have 245X35X19 up front . . . SOL or will they give me tires equivalent to what came on it?

I could at least sell those and put the money toward replacing my 19s.

I'm approaching the 2k miles now, however I happen to require the dealer to put in the new treaded tires.

It seems they discontinued use of the custom tread tire on all models except roadster (from the 05 models I saw physically there at time of purchase).

To me, this is an indication the alignment issues are now probably fixed (within tighter limits) and thus the use of the unique tread tire is no longer necessary. I, as a precaution, put is as part of my sales contract to get the tires swapped of another 05 which happen to have the new tread block.

I just spoke with a local service department and they said this problem is for '03s only. Is he full of BS? It would seem that my front tires are feathering on my '04.

My 2005....4000+ no feathering. My 2003 had it and it was noticeable after 3-4k miles. However I had it aligned (use the Hunter alignment machines, they are laser (or light) guided) ...and my 2003 after the realignment....didn't have much feathering then....it did have it...but very mild.

Could you explain what "custom thread tire" means? Do new models get different tires? How does it work?

Thanks
