Question Feathering

Someone told me that tire feathering is only an issue on the 18 wheels. Is there any truth to this.

The inside edges of your front tires will wear faster than the outside, the leading edge of the tread block on the inside wears faster causing excessive noise when slowing from ~40 mph.

I have an 03 and have had 2 sets of tires replaced, @ 6000 and 16000 miles.

Rumors have it the problem is fixed on 2004.5 and 2005 models, but most of those have not been out long enough to really tell.

Not all Z's feather tho. Some people are lucky and have never had a problem or have had the problem fixed and it has not returned. On my 03 preorder, the problem was fixed and returned at 16000 miles.

Don't really worry about it.

I've had all the Z problems. Feathering, window streaks, sucky bose radio, cup holder breaking, hatch not opening, gas door not opening, but I still love this car. It's a lease and I'm giving it back at the end for a new Z. i romp on this fun little ***** every day. She's like that kinky girl your were ****buddies with in college. She loves the "abuse".

So is the crappy bose stereo a problem you can get fixed, or is it just crappy by nature?

I am tired of Nissan's stand on the feathering issue. I know what the problem is and they won't do a recall to fix it. That is fine though. Will probably be trading the 350 in on a C6 Vette and will never buy another Nissan again. I have even heard the Murano's are having alignment issues too.

There is a reason they are refered to as Blose. Easy fix, buy aftermarket.

Sounds like your car was on the assembly line with mine. At around 8000 mile, you should definitely hear the roaring when slowing down. By 12,000 miles, you'll want to invest in a good set of ear plugs and tint your windows to mitigate embarassment.
