Crazy Conclusion
After reading just about every post on here over the past week or two, and being the optimist that I am, I have come to the conclusion that we are going to get our cars a lot sooner than expected. Here's my evidence:
- Production (probably) cars have been seen all over the US which means they must have had production capability for some time now. There was a post today that said production has already started. I'm not sure I buy all this stuff about putting out production cars for a couple of months to check quality control.
- It has been said that Nissan would start advertising early July. If our cars were really going to be here in October - December, that means that if Joe Consumer sees a commercial in July and runs to his local dealer he would be told he could get a car in December. If this is the case it doesn't make all that much sense to advertise in July.
- It has been said that information released on July 3rd is supposed to be really big. Well, I don't know what could be so big. We know just about everything about the car including pictures and videos. The only thing we really don't know is exact HP, 0-60, etc. This may be big for many of you but we already know numbers that are close so there must be something else "big".
- It has been said that we will be receiving something from Nissan in the next 1-2 weeks that will make us very happy and put a huge grin on our faces. Well, a key chain, luggage, or model car are all OK, but there is really only one thing that we really put a grin on our faces and that's to have our new cars. If I got something from Nissan that said my car would be here in on July 15th or that it was sitting at the dealership then I would have a really big grin.
- Someone just posted that Nissan told them their car was 55% complete. If production just started last week then it look like it takes about 2 weeks to produce a car. This person's car should be done in another week which is the end of June. They have to be able to get the car to him in July.
I just can't believe that with all the things I'm hearing that after ordering my Z on 2/2/2002 that I'm going to have to wait until October for my new Z. OK, now you can rip my theory apart but I'm still going to hope.

Embargo is off in July with hard stats.
Hard performance info. IS really big.
"Something" is good, most will like the cool stuff.
Testing may be 55% complete (odd number).
Do you want it fast or do you want it good.

I really doubt the the Z will come early for those that pre-ordered. It seems like it would be logistically difficult. Not to mention, many people need to do things such as arrange financing, or sell their current cars. I don't think that all can be done without some lead time.
Agree completely rouxeny, if mine was here tommorrow I'd crap on myself in excitement, then realize that my whole savings budget for the down payment got screwed by 3-4months. I'm not rich, but I will be able to afford the payments easily if I can get my target down payment together.

Will the speculatiuon never end?
Oh the inhumanity of it all!!!!
Whatever. At this point, I can't say I care. kay maybe that's a lie. I just care less I suppose.
Everything I have seen looks great for the car. The only thing I want now are hard numbers for the HP and that's it. I don't really care when it get's here...just as long as I get mine before Doc or Scaf.

You ask, why do we care when we get the Z?
Those in the Southern United States only have an anxious wait ahead of them. When they get the car, the car is absolutely drivable.
Those of us in the Northern United States (e.g the snow belt), are going to be hurt as winter is going to a damper on any deliveries after October. While I plan on buying snow tires immediately, depending on clearance and other issues, the Z may not be winter-streetable, making my insurance and car payments very painful while I wait for spring.
If the Z was released at the beginning of July, then everyone would be enjoying their Z's. If there are some electrical bugs... well then, recalls can always be done in the winter.
If I have to wait until past October, the car better darn well have over 300 hp to give me enough ooomph to plow the snow in front of the Z. *grin*
*note, I actually want a bug-free car (except for those bugs obliterated at-speed), but not having the Z in this great weather will make me very sad.
