Default for those with shift problems...

2 things,

1. have you ever tried another Z? or has another Z driver tried you car?(dealer perhaps)

2. when you shift, apparently it grinds, are you sure your putting the clutch to the floor?

Im just wondering since this appears to be the most serious "problem" mentioned so far, not easily fixed like bose or just asthetic like the grease line.

maybe you guys just need to hit the gym? in no way is my gears "soft" but it doesnt require undo effort to click it into gear.

Those are all valid points...this is actually my third Z. This is not the first time Nissan has had issues with their tranny. My '95 Z32 TT had a synch problem which required you to back off the RPMs when trying to go into 4th. If anyone else had a Z32 they will probably know what I'm talking about. MY overall opinion is that the hype Nissan put around this tranny was not met. Again, it's my own opinion, partly because I do have some of the grinding issues with my current Z. The issue right now that really bugs me though is....driving at ~50 mpg and wanting to downshift into 4th is met with some abnormal resistence. At such low speeds in 5th, downshifting to 4th should not be a problem.

Overall, I agree with your points....I must admit that some of what is said on this site can get in your head and play tricks. After really trying to recreate the scenarios I felt I was experiencing, the worst one is as mentioned before with the downshift.

I should hear back from my Service Manager and Nissan rep today.
