Hey VQracer...

Nice cover!!!

How does this one compare to the one listed for 198.00 on their accessories page for the 350z???

How much did you pay for it... ?? 167.00??

Can we get it at that price too without a group buy??

Thanks!

If we can get another group buy on this or something I would drop the cash in a heartbeat.

my Z doesn't come till march, and I'll probably get the dealer cover if I dont have one by then, but if I could get in on this I'd do it.

For those of you who haven't yet purchased a car cover for your 350Z, here is my advice.

DO NOT purchase a NOAH-type cover. I have owned 2 NOAH covers, including a factory BMW cover for my 2000 M Coupe. The material has a irregular, waffle-like exterior texture that holds abrasive sediments like soil, tree and vegetative matter. The inner surface of the NOAH material is much rougher than some of the more "modern" cover fabrics. The NOAH fabric is no longer considered the "state of the art" material.

In cold weather I noticed that the NOAH fabric would retain water and freeze solid. I warmer weather, the fabric will mildew because of its moisture retaining characteristics.

Worse of all, the NOAH covers are heavy and bulky. They can't be washed in standard home wahing machines.

I have been very happy with the Stormshield covers from www.coverking.com. The exterior surface is smooth and the inner surface has a layer of electro-flocked cotton. The Stormshield covers are so soft that I have used it both as an indoor and outdoor cover for my 1997 Supra. While it's water repellency is awesome, it also "breathes" so that moisture doesn't stay on the paint.

I have also seen the Weathershield covers from Covercraft. This is the same material as used in the Nissan factory 350Z cover. It is extremely lightweight. I think that it's a bargain at less than $200.

Check out this link to compare the fabrics:

Victor,

If you think that the NOAH cover is compact, then you haven't seen the newer generation covers. I would also like to see a picture of you stuffing the NOAH cover into your home washing machine.

If you need a "credibility" check, simply call Covercraft or just compare the covers side-by-side. The difference is obvious.

If you have the NOAH, stick with it. My advice is for others who are still considering which cover to buy.

Nope you shouldn't wash it in your home machine. The instruction sheet specifically says don't use a machine with an agitator. The sheet says take it to the laundry mat and use a big machine w/o an agitator.

That is false, this cover is very light and folds to a small shape. Makes me wonder about the credibility of your information
Credibility? Well Game on, my friend

I went up to my attic to get the old factory NOAH cover for my 2000 BMW M Coupe. Here are a few pics:

Here's a close up of the rough textured inner and outer surface of the NOAH cover. It may be durable, but it definitely retains dirt, pollen and sediment in the fabric. The fabric is so bulky that the manufacturer advises that you hand wash the cover (yeah, right) or take it to a large commercial washer without an agitator.

Do you really think that the NOAH cover folds into a small space?
Well, here's a picture of just how much space the cover takes up in your trunk space:

I was so disappointed with the NOAH cover on my BMW that I bought the Stormshield cover from www.coverking.com
The exterior surface is smooth and doesn't retain sediment and dirt. The inner surface is a "peach fuzz" layer of cotton. I'm convinced that the NOAH cover was scratching my paint finish.

Here's a comparison of the size of the Stormshield cover and the NOAH cover. Still think it's compact?

Quite frankly, I am not sure why Strictly Z sells NOAH and Evolution covers when Nissan's "factory" cover comes with the superior Weathershield material.

Follow this link and click on "Shopping Assistant":

http://www.autoanything.com/carcovers.asp

Weathershield scores 9 and 10 (out of 10) for moisture, snow, dust and sun protection, while NOAH can only score 5 and 6 in comparison. In fact the Evolution4 fabrics score even worse.

Bottom line? Don't buy the NOAH or Evolution4 material for your 350Z car cover. It's not worth saving $30-40 on an inferior product. In this case the factory Nissan cover is superior.

Dean,

Thanks for your info. Will look into this further. "Pictures are sure worth more than a 1000 words" .

Zoro,

Sorry, I didn't make that distinction clear. The Stormshield cover from Coverking has the cotton inner lining.

Nissan's factory cover is made of Weathershield. It doesn't have the cotton lining, but it's material is highly rated and supposed to be less abrasive than cotton.

My Track 350Z is a garage queen. I'm getting the Weathershield cover anyway.

Self bumped for purposes of comparison of the Nissan cover vs. NOAH.

Sorry to beat a dead horse.

Victor,

No problem. I'm here on the forum to learn more about the Z also. For instance, I know nothing about TEIN coilovers!...
