Default 350z or WS6

without price in mind, I'm trying to decide between buying a WS6 trans am, or a 350z. 350's are less common, and I like having factory DVD and Navigation...but the exhaust note on a V8 is just music to the ears. Anyone have good comparison? The WS6 is faster in a straight line, but which kicks sideways easiest....which will go faster in the twisties? Curious to hear what Z owners think....

If you want a car that is just fast in a straight line, get the WS6. If you want a car that is faster than average in a straight line, can handle the twisties, and a good looking car, get the Z.

I saw a WS6 in my parking lot today. Dated and imho - ugly as hell. Has trash written all over it.

I traded in a 2000 Ws6 on my Z. They are two different cars. If you want to go fast in a stright line, get the Ws6. You will have to get a 2002 or older as they stopped making them then. I know several people who have modded, street driven, Ls1 cars that are running in the 10's.
I like the Z better for a daily driver. Much nicer car. If you want the other sides opinon, got to www.ls1.com or www.ls1tech.com

Um, a WS6 and SS are the exact same car in different skins.

I had an LS1 and I now have the Z (had a truck in between). I love both cars, so it's basically what you want to do with the car that will make your decision. There's no doubt an F body will destroy a Z in a straight line, and they're cheaper to mod and you can get a lot more hp gains from different mods--afterall, it's a mod friendly V8.

The Z outhandles the F body hands down. And there are plenty of options to make a Z ungodly fast by now, it's just going to cost more.

Either way, you'll have fun.

You can't even compare the two. The last time I took a ride in a WS6 it was obnoxiously loud, droning down the highway with a bad resonance at freeway speeds. It had 30,000 miles on it and all the interior plastics (dash, doors etc.) were delaminating, the paint on that rubber wing in the back was cracking, the T tops leaked and the windows barely worked. Not to mention the fact that it rode like ***! The worst part is that it was all stock. American car engineers will never put half the effort or build quality into their vehicles. The WS6 is completely unrefined and horribly overpriced. (IMHO)

As I stated in my previous post, I like the Z as a daily driver. BUT, whoevers Ws6 you rode in must have been an Ahole who did not take care of it. Mine had over 70,000 miles on it when I traded it and the interior looked like new. Any car can look like $hit after a short time if you don't take care of it. As for as the "rubber wing in back", I don't know what you're talking about. There is no rubber wing on a Ws6.

Get a c5 corvette. I had one before owning a z and it's the only ls1 powered car I'd buy. Trans ams and Camullets are fast in a straight line, but are not nearly as classy as the Vette or 350z what-so-ever. My ex has a trans am and everything inside is incredibly cheap looking, but for some that may be what they want, they don't want to pay the price of the corvette, and as a result the interior build quality isn't that great. All depends on where your priorities lie. My vote goes to the 350 if it's between just those 3, if you throw the vette in the mix, well the vette is an incredible car.

yes, but I'm 20 years old and cannot afford an LS1 powered vette...so I'll leave the options between the 2. So far, you guys have been thinking the same exact things I have. I won't be daily driving the car, my insurance will be too expensive haha. I really like my friends base model Z. What all is the difference between the base models and the touring models? Keep in mind, fastest thing I ever owned is an old calais that ran low 15's. So, either way, this thing is gonna feel fast, and brake well compared to what I've owned before.

Get the Z. While the WS6 is a pretty special TA, the Z gets all the looks. You will get sick of the American Muscle sound over time anyway. The Z reaks of European Sports Car sophistication. It handles like a porsche and there is not a boxter out there that will beat it.

If you can afford a Z, you can afford a c5 vette. My Z was more expensive than my vette.

Not a new vette, you can easily pick up a 97-98 vette for the price of a z, maybe even a 99.
