Not a single Z
Well my family and I just made the trip from CT to Florida and I did not see a SINGLE Z on the way!! I-95 the entire way down and not a single Z, it was sort of weird. Granted I was resting some of the time, but I was either driving or paying attention most of the time. I've been in Florida for a few days now, Barefoot Bay, right near Melbourne and I STILL haven't seen a Z.
I guess as popular as they seem to be getting, they are still pretty rare.

See half a dozen everyday in the same parking structure I attend college at. (Theres also dozens of Porsches and M3' and CLK's so it's not like the Z's a straight commuter)
They're all bone stock and boring to look at but every once in a full moon a modified one comes my way and it's exciting to look at, regardless of how tacky it is.

I think the people you are looking for that have Z's are probably not out because they are at work. I know my Z hasn't been out of the work parking garage or out of my house garage for more that 30 minutes a day on the typical weekday. And only about 10 minutes of that is actually on I-95...Spotting a Z is not like searching for Bigfoot...Z's do exist but most people that own them don't spend nearly as much time driving them as they do working. People who are not in an office during the day are probably driving bigger cars that have trunk space and are cheaper or safer to drive all day long. Also, when I travel long distances I usually drive my SUV or other car...
I had the first Z in my town (pretty small town). A year later, there's now mine (still the only redline
), a Silverstone, a PPW, a SB, and a (rarely) DB. Bunch of copycats :P
Outside of town though, I havn't seen one in Santa Fe or Abq for at least two months whenever I'm there.

Gosh you guys are lucky. I'm not kidding when I say my condo complex has more Z's than Civics! We've got my PPW, a Silverstone, two Classic Silvers (maybe just one now), and a black roadster. All of them copycats.

I'm not from LA but I go up and down every once and awhile from S.D. I see alot of STI's but EVo's probably once every few days.
You'll find the most EVO's in college towns say around the UCLA or UC Santa Barbara areas. Down in San Diego it's the same thing: San Diego State Univ or UCSD. Theres an obvious concentrated age bracket for that car.
Wierd thing is I tend to see more new STi's than the regular WRX's. Just my observation.

I have seen 2 other roadsters in florida...one silver one here and one just like mine (Daytona Blue)in Jensen Beach last weekend. Seen a few more coupes. Same 3 or 4. Whenever I see another Z I feel like I have to pass it.
