How do you keep saying the 08 is going to be a 3.7 engine, You dont even know, im about 90 sure the 3.7 Z is going to be realeased in 09. Just when the GT-R is going to be released, they are not about to change the motor on a yearly basis, sorry no 3.7 Z in 08, My 2 cents

well i dont know whos saying for certain it is, honestly nobody knows for certain. But it would be a good way to keep sales up next year before the supposed redesign in 09.
but im sure they wouldnt have problems riding out 08 with the 3.5HR.

Actually it makes more sense for Nissan to switch next year to the 3.7 because they've already done so with the Infiniti line. The old VQ35DE's are still being used in Altimas and other models but the Z has already moved to the HR. It doesn't make any sense for Nissan to product 2 different HR motors for the Z and G. The 3.7 is the new HR motor anyways with a higher displacement. Also, Nissan does change motors one year after another. Look what happened between 05->06->07. And techically, the 3.7 will not be a "new" motor from the existing HR.

remember the Z was a 2002 in japan and a 2003 here
so one thing i take as a big clue is the NISMO Z is officially a 2007 model not 2008. this car is to cap off the 350z run, while its obvious the Z wont be an 08 as in coming this fall , i strongly feel you will see it some time in the calander year of 2008 whether it is a 08 or 09 model year is just a detail.
the Tokyo auto show for cars is every other year. and i cant see the new Z being intoduced anywhere else. so while nothing has been said and this is the GT-R's show to shine( oh and the GT-R is beign released this late fall in japan and spring 08 here.)
if nissan doesnt do a concept in october they would have to either debut it at another show like detroit or NY (which is out of character) or wait until fall of 2009 which is unlikey.
and as for 370Z, how could/would it logically be anything else now that its sister car is using the VQ37VHR

YOU PEOPLE...what do you mean by YOU PEOPLE? hahaha, just kidding. Anywho, the 08 is going to be the 3.7 and the 09 is going to be a 4.0...i know people in corporate Nissan and they told me. No...not really, i can't back that up.

The HP war is getting out of hand. How much more N/A power can we extract out of a V6 without driving up costs and fuel consumption? It's a tough call.
The FWD sedans are getting power that's becoming overkill. I don't mind a "sport" trim of a sedan with more thrust, while the rest have practical power and improved fuel economy.
Look at the domestics. The typical sedans are moving up to V8s with 400HP and whatnot.
Back then, driving a 300HP (Z32-TT) felt great and everyone was amazed by it's power. Nowadays, 300HP is weak sauce when a Camry or Accord can run just as fast.

I always feel better when i think about my car on a road course or a canyon run, screw those sedans. Z's are much more fun anyhow...so what if pop's can beat you on a straight in his m5 or e55.
