What is the of lying about the weight? And what is the proof? Maybe they used the weight of a fully loaded 350Z GT or GT convertible?

Nissan claims an 06+ Touring Coupe weighs 3350lbs. :\

Many of us, including myself, have weighed our cars with a full tank and get a number that's 100lbs less than that. The same weight listed on my car's title and registration is the same weight I got when I weighed the car stock (~3250). Now that number is significantly different thanks to all the weight reduction.

My conspiracy theory is that Nissan has intentionally done this so that they can release the 370Z, have it weigh 3150lbs and say it weighs 200lbs less than the outgoing Z. When in reality it'll be only 100lbs. Just my 2 pence.

Even at 3150, with 330 HP it will still fly.... Remember the old M3 had 333 HP and was 3420.... 0-60 = 4.8 seconds...

I wonder if they are doing the same thing with the G35 and G37.

I dunno about this. With almost an 8" reduction in length, I don't see a small number like only 100lbs covering for that much car. 8" is pretty significant.

The Z is already a short-length car. It looks bigger than it really is, because of the wide rear-end + fenders. At my workplace parking lot seeing it parked by all the other cars, it looks super small and really compact. Try putting a ruler to the tail end of your Z and reducing 8". You'll be surprised if you visualize the difference.

Well maybe it has heavier parts, and more features that make it only 100lbs-200lbs lower? After all the new nav system on the touring model does have some weight to it.

I don't need a ruler to measure 8 inches...

I agree though, the Z does look bigger than it really is. I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of the 350 vs. 370.

All the images coming out now matches what I saw in that focus group almost exactly - especially the leaked slide that was circulating around.

Just to clarify: The entire focus group was recorded by employees of Nissan's offices in Los Angeles behind a one-way mirror. The actual group was conducted by a third party, by an employee of that third party whos job is to specifically conduct focus groups like these.

The images I saw were high-resolution prints mounted to foamcore, very polished and clear photography of the vehicle (which was silver). There were side, front, rear, 3/4s, interior cabin and interior rear shots. The images were passed around then put on the wall. We focused less on the design of the car (as we were told that the design in these images were final save any last minute revisions) and more related to how Nissan wanted to position the car and advertise the car.

They also asked us about what we'd expect to pay (not what we'd *like* to pay). They also asked us if they could get away with charging $3000 more because of the increased performance, then asked us if they thought the GTR raised the 'Nissan' brand and asked if they could get away with charging $5000 more.

We were also shown a series of images (one of a typical 'Fast and the Furious' street race scene with modified cars and underglow, one of a man simply enjoying the raw power and precision of the vehicle on a twisty road, and one of a man and a VERY hot woman embracing each other while leaning on a 350Z). Well all agreed the enthusiastic driver best matched the Z-Car linage.

We also said that the Z's history and name played a big role in our decisions to purchase the 350Z.

If you saw it, draw a rough drawing of what it looks like.

Considering theirs already pictures out, what would be the point? The details ive outlined in the OP represent the largest changes to the overall look of the car.

Especially the part about one of the gauges being digital.

If you'd like, I can rough out a line drawing of the side view, but I'm pretty sure it would end up looking like I drew it from the leaked slide.

As for weight, a change in wheel and tire size could alone make a difference. 17's to 18 to 19 is easily 100 pounds.

Then if you compare the weight of an enthusiast versus a Grand Touring, again because of options easily a hundred or so pounds.

It jsut depends on the build of the car.

Just my .02

A new rendition by Road and Track:

Comparing to other pics around the web, I have a sick feeling this is gonna be close... I'm really not digging the new design.

Quick Reply: I've seen the 370Z...
