Yea, I take it a whp. However, if they are pulling about 306 bhp with the 07 I'm sure the 370 can only pull out 320bhp. The funny thing is that if they only cut 200lbs they are back to the weight of the 03 350z. I'd like to see the car down to 28 hundred -3k range. Hopefully with the gain in liters they can get a gain in torque, hopefully around 280-290

You think???

The G37 is tuned for 330. The Z has ran a bit ahead of the G in HP most o the time and I think they will bump it past the current G37. We may even see a 350HP NA Z in our futures. This in combination with a lower weight would kick some uro but for sure.

I just hope Nissan does right with the Z. Here are somethings I'd like to see:

- max weight 3000lbs
- 350hp (use the 3.8 from the RS if necessary)
- upgrade the interior (better materials then hard plastic)
- price in the 29-35k range
- similar but upgraded exterior design

I think those of us looking to buy a Z pretty much can all agree with these points. It's what their buyers want.

This was posted before, was titled "Baby z". I hope that is not the big change of 09.

Also agree with triso07, but i do not want a 350z to have a v8.

I think lighten and 300-320whp which is about 340-350hp loosing 7-15%, in a lighter smoother shifting car would make almost anybody happy. As mentioned as long as it looks similar to the present (and they won't change much bc of its succuess) 350Z, I think the 370-380Z will do well.

As mentined the 350Z and like vehicle are touring vehicles with sports car attributes, its not a Sports car mode for the street like the cramped and rough riding Lotus elise or the Ford F1 or Viper. The Honda 2k got close to the Lotus alot of people enjoy driving it on the track but complain about the tight fit and rough ride daily driving. Believe it or not I think the Nissan is following the Porsche which are Sports Cars mode for the street that ride nice and still handle. What ever you call it make me smile, with better performance, high quailty interior and style!

My 2 cent, I might be wrong.

Wait.. the G37 gets 330hp, and the new 370Z only gets 320-325? something doesn't sound right...

If Nissan has any common sense, then they will give the Z more power then the G37 (hoping for the 3.8).

Let the G37 be the luxury sports coupe, and make the Z a smaller, better performing, lighter sports car with some luxury options.

Some of you folks are a little optimistic with your pricing hopes given the other improvements you're looking for in weight, performance etc.

I think we'll see a car that weighs about the same with a few hp more than the G37. I'm hoping for better than that in both categories but not overly confident.

"At roughly 3,600 pounds, the current-model Z-car is far heavier than its natural competition, the 2,900-pound Porsche Cayman and the 3,100-pound BMW Z4."

Wtf? My Z weighs a little over 3185 lbs.
According to edmund's statement, they would have to shave more than 500lb's to be lighter than my 2004 base?

3600lbs thats one of the heaviest 350Z I've heard of. Which model is that?

I thought that the base and enthuaist were around 3150lb.
The Track or Performance around 3350lbs.
The Touring 3395lbs and Grand Touring were around 3545lbs.

I guess if you are rounding up the GT's weight thats about right.

Track racers say that less then a 1/4 tank of gas, remove the spare tire kit and accessories their curb side weight is 2995lbs. On the base or E.

No doubt about that. I drove a 2003 S2K until I sold it during the passed summer(I'm pushin a stock EK9 right now I bought off of a buddy for $3k) and lookin into purchasing a used base Z in hopes of achieving 550-600whp. Anyway, you're 100% right about the go-cart S2K. I'm a midget, standing only at 5'6" and even I consider the the interior to be cramped. The stock suspension is unmerciful. It was a giant pain in the gluteus maximus driving it to and from work every day in Los Angeles rush hour stop-n-go traffic. I only tracked it about a half dozen times and that's definitely when it shined. Moderate bolt-ons, a tune with AEM's e-manage, some Tein MFD coils and you felt like the track catered to you. The balance and precision was ridiculous. Anyhow, sorry to steer off topic a bit. Just wanted to share my personal input in concerns to "sports cars made for the streets". I'll go back to quietly reading everyones posts like I have been for about a month now.

okay, since its going to keep the same looks, i'll ok with that. But why not save money and just throw in the GTR motor and stop giving us that 300+hp NA motor? I drove one, and was not very happy with it.

A STI or Evo 8 feels faster at times. I might be wrong, just a feeling.

Because it would be expensive as hell. How would Nissan "save money"??

You drove a prototype 370z??

Good luck in an STi or Evo.

the sensation of speed in a turbo car are sometimes misleading.
