I'd also think that if Nissan wants to have sport and economy (on the green edge) they'd have those other two "non concepts" be hybrids.....

Yes, we can all see your take on the subject. But at this point, the inforation you repeatedly claim came from the horse's mouth is as good as if it actually came from a living horse's mouth -- basically worthless without factual documents. To say it's true or not true, right or wrong without facts really has no important values.
It's more entertaining to have logical speculations of the future Z based on current and past infomation, which is what this thread is.
And logically, the only reason the Z hasn't already been redesigned is because Nissan has had its resourses spent on researching and developing the GTR, as well as the Murano, and the Altima coupe. Now that they are done, which of their cash-cow vehicles from their current line-up have not received a redesign? The Altima sedan is brand new, so is the Sentra, the brand new Murano is about to be released, which leaves the Maxima and the Z.
The current Maxima was introduced as an '04 model year, so if it's redesigned and reintroduced in '09 as a 2010 model, it would make the life cycle 6 years. Logically, it makes perfect sense.
Now the Z was introduced as an '03 model. To completely redesign and introduce it as a 2011 model year would make its life span, from '03 to '10, EIGHT years. How many mass-produced Nissans have had an 8-year life cycle? The $200k Ferrari F360 production run doesn't even come close to eight years -- 6 years to be exact, from '99 to '04 -- and that's an exotic, which usually doesn't get updated as often as mass-produced cars.
So that leaves the rumor of a 2010 model-year reintroduction of the Z, which would make the current production run a 7-year life cycle, and even that is a long time. Based on current rumors about the next Z, the most logical one seems to be a 2010 model, introduced late '09.

We already know that the new Maxima is coming out this year as an 09 model. Its being unveiled at the New York Auto Show in March.

Is it possible that they won't say that the new Z will be at the New York auto show but they will unveil it there? And if the new z doesn't show up at this show, then I'm guessing there will be no new '09 z.

^ the NY auto show is on martch, and we haven't heard much about the Z. I think it would be too soon to see it there, considering Nissan would want all the spotlights shone on their brand-new, $75k GTR. Eventhough the Z and GTR are geared towards completely different buyers and thus wont be competitive among each other, it makes more sense to let their 2nd most-anticipated vehicle have all the spotlights at a later time. Maybe we'll see the new Z in NY this March, but if I had to, I wouldn't bet on it at all.
oh I didn't know and think they'd unveil it that soon, but it's great news then, because that would only leave '09 mainly for the Z and that rumored 240sx. Talk about being organized and proactive, Nissan is rolling out new cars, one after the other. Those who are still deciding but haven't bought a Z yet, save your pennies...it's pretty obvious we'll see the new Z sometimes in '09, and maybe be able to drive it off the lot latter in the year.

My designer buddy stopped in again this morning. He didn't have any new info. he could share with me, though. I did ask him about some of these renderings we're seeing all over the web and he said he's seen them and they are not at all accurate as to what the next Z will really look like. He's going to be at the NY show in March for the unveiling of the new Maxima. He wasn't sure what else they would have there, but did not rule out a possible sneek peek of the new Z. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

It would be awesome if they could get a hybrid engine or hybrid motors onto the wheels like the old supra concept.

Here's meaningful info with a source. I'm friends with a Nissan Master Tech here in Vegas. He recently told me that he's been told to expect the 370Z to start coming in for service at the end of Fall '09. He says he believes this means they'll start selling around October/November.
BTW, you guys talking about '11 are talking about a completely new Z. The 370Z is not this car. The 370Z has minor cosmetic updates and the same VQ37HR motor as the G37 which is already on sale. The '11 car is going to be a completely new car, on a new platform, most likely with a VR based motor like the GTR.
