I had one of these days when I picked my G up from the body shop after 3 1/2 weeks of driving my dad's Altima 5sp. Took me about two days to remember how to drive... but I kinda like the clutch the way it is...

I don't understand the clutch complaints. I've been driving manual transmissions for close to 50 years now and the Z clutch isn't much different from any of my other cars. My Miata clutch also feels very similar to the Z clutch. One of the stiffest clutches I ever drove was in my '69 SS 396 but even then the clutch was not that difficult. I think you guys just need to practice more..............

These guys complaining about the clutch sound like such pansies. Go back to driving civics and change your tamons.

My gf who is 5'2" never complained once about the clutch in the Z being too tough for her...

The Z clutch is already hydraulically assisted! It takes very little effort and that's coming from a skinny guy. Maybe you just need to build up your clutch muscle.

Some of you guys need to get more experience driving a standard and/or building up some strength in your leg to push the clutch.

This isn't the easiest car to drive but it's far from difficult. I'd rather focus improvement in handling, braking, and power.

Compltely redesigned rear, better drivetrain, 300 plus lbs lighter and 0-60 at 4 sec. That is pretty close to the new 370z.

Heavy Clutch?

Man you guys should drive some 60's or 70's American Muscle, and then come talk about heavy clutches. I used to grab gears in my 69 Roadrunner and my butt would come off the seat when I pushed the clutch in!

I know...heavy compared to what you're used to.

The M5 clutch is 3 times as stiff and engages right off the floor. Man i loved that car.

A 911 turbo s clutch is rediculous also. After I got the hang of it though woo!!haha

i prefer manuals to A/T...but I can understand the frustration in stop n go traffic.....The clutch on the Z is fine...not at all on the harder side of things for a sports car.

if it makes any difference...the feel of the clutch on your muscles would be slightly different compared to the footwear used as well. Sneakers are in itself a heavy object and therefore slightly easier feel to the clutch action vs a formal shoe.

i wont go crazy and ask for a turbo but is a low compression 330hp engine that much to ask for? That way i can do my own turbo. I mean supra did it over 10 years ago, how hard can it possibly be?

I seriously doubt it would still make 330hp if it were low compression. And how would it make good business sense for Nissan to sell a low horsepower, low compression engine so that 2% of the people that buy the car can easily turbo it?

depends on what year z your talking about. The old 350z 03-04 had very stiff clutches. much much stiffer than the ones built in 05-08. My buddy drives an old M3, and he thinks my clutch is harder to use than his. I driven BMW cars, the new ones are really light clutches. His old M3 clutch is firm and springy, but not "heavy". My buddy goes to the gym all the time too, so i know his legs are strong. But even he hates driving my old 350Z. He thinks the engagement point is too high and the effort is too stiff. That is why they softened the clutch on later Z cars, people complained to much.hahaha. But i am like you, i like sporty cars that have heavier clutches and good pedal feed back. M5 is a nice car dude, what year is yours?
