To add fuel to the proverbial fire: if were to go by what we allegedly know about the 370Z (350HP, 3100lbs) then the Z would stomp it no contest.

That said, whoever mentioned that a Z is slower than a standard 3.0L Z4 needs to get their information straight. With the proper skills, Zs (DEs or HRs) are 13-second capable cars. I barely see Z4s hitting 13s stock...and when they do they sneak into the territory running something like a 13.99. The 06+ cars are infinitely better, though.

Who cares? The current HR Z is just as fast as the Z4M anyway.

Ill speculate and Im an ex (03)350z owner with a z4m coupe. if the spec's are accurate the extra 20 hp, and being 100 plus pounds lighter should make the 370 faster in a straight line. We'll see what happens at the first turn, or stop.

Who Cares!! How much for the BMW 70, 80 grand? Give me my 07 Z and the change and lets see who wins! Besides all BMW are time bombs! They love the service dept. more than the road! I know because I owned one!

 

This thread is not going to prove anything until the 2010 comes out. The BMW Z4M is susposed to get a 414 HP V-8 from the M series. If that comes to pass then the pounds per HP will still favor the Z4M. Both new engines have been reported in the mags but until they hit the street then we will just have to wait and see. If the Z4M does get the 400HP+ then it will give a vette a run in the quarter. Again, we will have to wait and see.....untill then, enjoy what you have...

well first off the z4 didnt ever beat the z look it up in fifth gear they did say they rather have the z4 but the z won everything check it out on you tube

u right that z4 in my opinion is a gay convertible car. i love the M hardtop but i dont know how it will compare to the Z. i get tire of beating them rich kid car. Z > z4 not only in looks but in performance.

 

I used to own a 04 350Z (which I loved) and sold it to buy an E46 ZCP M3 and I can tell you that unless your Z has some serious mods and/or the driver of the M was a novice....a 350Z from any year is not beating an E46. I raced a new Z a couple weeks ago and walked it by a few lengths. The M3 is faster in every aspect....period.

we won't know a definative answer till the new Z comes out, unless most people are comparing it to the motor they have in the g37

 

ive driven the mcoupe many times. its nothing special. doesnt feel fast at all. some people say the e46 m3 feels faster. sounds weird but w.e

370z would eat it
