I don't know,I'm willing to bet thats pretty close. Oh and as a graphic designer, I don't feel those are bad photoshops, granted the quality is bad. But overall the execution is quite good.

Is it me or does the profile pic look awkward? The rear doesn't match the car, and does not flow well. Too bad, I love the 350z's roof line. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see one in person.
thats what I've been trying to tell people, beleive it when you see it (in person), and don't beleive everything you read

I do not think we will see a V8 in the Z. Can you see a V8 is this size car? The wheelbase does not seem long enough... Seems like it would be a very dangerous drive; like driving a Funny Car....
Back in 1992, I though putting a 6 cylinder motor in a GTi was a bit much, but it worked.

Not sure I am picking up what you are laying down... I am not talking the size of engine bay. I am talking about the size of the car, lengthwise. Is that what you are talking about?

I have no idea what you mean. Do you mean the wheelbase, total length or the length of the engine bay?

Swapping a V8 into the 370z chassis wouldn't be a dangerous drive.

just think of a 300zx twinturbo at stage III or a 240sx with an RB26DETT .

haha how sick would it be if it had a VR35 from the nissan supercar lol.

anybody know of this so called GTR SUPERCAR I've been hearing about? I guess it only has a twin turocharged 3.8ltr V6 and can go 0-60 in 3.3 seconds.

Nissan is already ahead of the game when it comes to engine developement, The GTR which IS a SUPERCAR for christ sakes only has a V6, why in the hell would nissan even consider puting a V8 in a Z? Theres absolutely no need for it, not unless their planning on making the Z a supercar along side the GTR.

You're not holding the right perspective. Don't think in terms of cylinder count, that's not what matters. Think in terms of markets. Here, in the <$40,000 sports car, there are going to be many ~400hp choices available to consumers including the new Mustang and Camaro. Adding a 400hp V8 model to the Z would put it in the same power league as some of the rest of the market and allow the GTR to maintain it's position at the top as Nissan's most powerful car.

With the weight reduction of the Z, I think that a 330hp mill will still be competitive, but this is a marketing consideration that would bring another high performer to the minds of buyers.

Also, I see this morning that the other thread that we were missing in this section was moved. It also seems to me that a lot of people there didn't realize that the "370" they were looking at was just a dressed up 350Z.

So are you referring to the weight balance being the concern? The V8 will fit into the platform, and you seem to understand that, so I'm not exactly sure what the length concern is.

Again, there will never be a V8 Z. It will have Turbos before it ever sees a V8. The GT-R would get a V8 before the Z ever would.

This from the guy that insisted that his inside source said the next Z would go on sale in 2010 as a 2011. The V8 is a simple drop in of an existing engine. A twin turbo VQ would take far more development time. If they make a V8 model available in the first year, I'll be purchasing that trim.

True, but the 370 is much shorter than the 300zx. Remember this Z is suppose to be about the size of a S2k/Audi TT. That V8 torque COULD be too much...

V8 torque in a short wheelbase is my concern. Compare a NHRA Funny Car to a NHRA Top Fuel Dragster. Both have the same engine, but the Funny's are MUCH more difficult to drive due to their shortened wheel base.

Wow, you are so very, very clever. I can take a joke, though. I've been spot on with regards to my analysis thus far. I'm just discussing how it would make sense from various perspectives to put a 500Z into production. Ask yourself KingBaby, would you buy a throaty, 400HP, V8 Z if you could? People are dropping Chevy 350s into 240Z because the combination gives a very rewarding power to weight ratio.

V8 is a big time rumor that will never happen. Why would it take far more development when THEY HAVE ONE already?

A v8 would ruin the car. It won't sound like a Z anymore.

And if I am wrong I am wrong at least I admit it. But I was told this info from a contact that usually is never wrong since he had part of the design of the 350z. The 370z isn't here yet so you can't say I am wrong.

Endgame,

300ZX:
2450 mm (96.5 in) 2 seater[1]
2570 mm (101.2 in) 2+2[1]

The 370Z is supposed to be closer in length to the 2+2. Hopefully that puts to rest some of the concern. I do share some of it, as snap oversteer would be ridiculous if the chassis is too twitchy, but I'd think that the Z would be fine and Nissan would help with a little chasis tuning. The V8 Z would be an amazing car.

I'm glad you can take a joke, but I'm sure if we can build nice, and worthy track car then NISSAN can do just the same. Just because they can do these things doesn't mean they will or even consider it after the drop of the GT-R.

look at it this way the Nismo chasis is a perfect example of what could be done. If they want a monster Z all they had to do is take nismo Z frame, throw a GT-R engine setup in there with the electronics, and BOOM....Zezilla for around 55-60k.

It would conflict with the GT-R sales even with the fan base not all buyers are car fanatics. Most would be swayed to the curves of a Z rather than the no ******** GT-R.

Because the VR will NEVER find it's way into this generation Z in a production form. It'd be market suicide and Nissan isn't that stupid.

The 350Z didn't sound like the 300ZX. I'll agree that it'd loose the VQ35's burble, which I admit to being in love with, but Nissan's V8 sounds insane when treated to a free flowing intake and exhaust system.

True. Production and market complications could put it off for a year, but I doubt that your contact was predicting such a thing. If it comes out in 2009 as a 2010 MY model, then I'll be a bit off as I stated it'd be a 2009 MY. That's fine with me as I couldn't care less about what they call it in comparison to when they release it.
