I actually think there should be a separate thread for V8 related discussion/speculation/debunking or whatever. Unless there was already one here, which I still don't see.

I'll add. The VK50 would be a good candidate, tuned for over 400 hp, which is obvious that'd the be engine Nissan engineers are eyeing for shoe-horning into the Z. Considerations should be taken for the weight balance.

i actually think that this entire section should be closed until the actual release of the car, and any further specualtion thread afterwards gets locked for being a waste of space.

Likely their marketing dept (are you paying attention Nissan?) will give it a trim level, like ST-R (pulling that out of their article indicating "S" and "ST" trims and adding an "-R"). So it'd be the Z, Z S, Z ST and Z ST-R. Likely the badge on the rear would say 500Z though.

It'd be an interesting move and they'd be following BMW's lead of breaking tradition to meet performance expectations of the market (V8 M3).

A welcome move in my opinion and I would likely be adding one to my garage if it was a performance bargain like the rest of the Z line.

Oh god , their not puting a V8 in a Z. think about it, the new Z IS going to be a 370z, which would mean it would be a 3.7ltr v8, nissan is smarter than that, their not going to make 4 different Z's for a single year.

Dude.. Z Stealth, I must agree with you. The first pic of it from the front quarter = HAWT!!!!!!! The rest = d u d e..... not cool....

I do not think we will see a V8 in the Z. Can you see a V8 is this size car? The wheelbase does not seem long enough... Seems like it would be a very dangerous drive; like driving a Funny Car....

Oh yeah. Did anyone catch the pricing? Seems like the 35k may not be too farfetched...

I take it that you've missed the frequent discussion of Nissan dropping the number and just calling the Z, the "Z" and not the 350Z. That means they can have a Base Z with a 3.7 and a 370Z badge and a higher trim Z with a 500Z badge. It'd be no different than the Skyline being offered in the 250 and 350GT trims (complete with separate badges and all).

Right, because the FX50, which is built on the FM platform uses some kind of magic to fit the engine in there.

I think they're just throwing that out there since it's the latest figure put out. A V8 trim would make sense at $35K, but that's less than the current highest trim ($36,740 for the Grand Touring). I'd imagine this would push closer to the Nismo price point. According to the article though it'd be between high $34,000 and $46,000.

So thats it huh? Those are pretty much official pics? I agree with a previous poster that the front 3/4 looks hot. The rest kinda disappoints me. It's sad because I always felt the z was/is the best looking car on the road. I feel like they got rid of the elements that made the 350z sexy and kept elements that weren't the z's strong points. Is it me or does the profile pic look awkward? The rear doesn't match the car, and does not flow well. Too bad, I love the 350z's roof line. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see one in person.

Some goofs took a 350Z and tried to make a full scale version of a bad photoshop.

Read on and you'll see that this is fueled by the Z34's Chief of Production, Shinjiro Yukawa. He supposedly stated in an interview that they were considering it.
