Just read the good news in R&T.
The 370Z will have 350hp and weight 3050lbs I still haven't seen a picture of the interior. But you know I'm still counting my pennies with 06-08s breaking 5.3 - 5.2 0-60 times this new 370Z should run well below 4.9 0-60 times and just about pull 13.0 r high 12s quarter mile times. And costing only $32k - $42k that will work keeping up with the Z tradition of price + performance. Soltice my a$$. All cars are going up in price.
Be nice if I could keep the redline 05 but if not the 370Z in black would be sweeet!!
Note that the Shelby GT500KR Mustang is a $79K car 3885lbs curb weight, 540hp and does 4.7 0-60 times. GTR money without the S performance I'd get a GTR instead.
What do you say?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Z and I'm sure the new one will be a nice car, but it's certainly not the only game in town. Comparing it to the 4-banger Solstice is just plain stupid when it's real competition are the superior Corvette and the upcoming 422HP Camaro V8 for $30K.

Try buying the almost 3900 pound (and butt ugly) GTR for anything close to its $70K+ sticker..if you can even find one. And you can easily find non-Z06 Vettes for under $40k....again, superior performance and value vs. the 370Z.

Chevy can't sell them at MSRP...my point exactly, Captain Obvious. You simply can't beat their incredible performance to dollar value right now......and you can make a deal on pretty much any other mass produced car as well in this crappy economy...or haven't you heard?

Go put 150,000 - 200,000 miles on a GTR and the same on a Vette and then see what you have. The GTR is a far better car than the Vette.

I don't care how good a car the GTR is...and it IS damn good....but it's one ugly, fat beatch that borders on being an SUV. Check out the size of this monstrosity:

The 700+ plus extras pounds of the GTR pretty much cancels out the minor difference in drag. The car is too narrow and tall for my taste, but to each his own.
GM's quality is getting better all the time...God knows it needs to. The Vette however, is built in its own factory and the QC is extremely high. I toured the plant a few weeks ago and they strive to get these cars right. Each Vette goes through four thorough inspections and a road test. For the record, my two C6's have been flawless, while my two 350Z's were rattle traps and had many, many issues....two of the most unreliable cars I've ever owned. To just dismiss the Vette as a crappy Chevy is purely ignorant, especially when judging it by Nissan standards.
Having said all that, I think the GTR is a tour de force of technical achievement and a bargain at $70k. I'd own one in heartbeat if it looked even half as good as the Z. It doesn't.

And the Tall Gearing cancels out the Vette over 140+ vs the GT-R.
Sorry I have been in a C6 Vette, and it's quality isn't there. Painted plastic dashs, hollow dashs, cheap plastic everywhere.
See, you just proved you are a Corvette Fanboi. You supposely OWN two C6s, or do you mean your parents?
But IMHO, I would still own a ZO6 over a GT-R due to price and maintenance.

Other than 0-60 times, the Z excells in all other areas. My 2002 Z06 started to rattle like a snake after about six months....the build quality was terrible for a $50,000 car. A used one for less than $30,000 will give you great performance but will be only slightly better than a Camaro in quality. It just depends on what's most important to you.
I replaced the Z06 with a 350Z track model. I miss the power of the Vette, but I enjoy the handling, styling, and quality of the Z much more. I'm sure I'll be checking out the C-6 in couple of years, but for now, I'll stick with the Z.

I was going to....but when a new rattle developed just about every week (the kind of rattles you can't even find...like behind the speedometer), putting $12,000 into that car suddenly seemed pretty foolish. The car seemed to be falling apart before my eyes.
I thought I might consider the new Viper, but over $80,000 for car that supposedly now cooks it's passengers from excess heat in the cabin seems ridiculous......and the car's build quality is probably even worse than the Vette's. I'm not a Porsche fan, so I'll hope for some decent mods for the the 350Z, and I'll wait and see if GM gets their act together with the C-6 Corvette.

How is he owned? That was back in 2002 when he obviously had a C5. The C6 is far superior to the C5 in quality and equal, if not better, in quality than the 350z.
As for the OP's comments about the 370z I wouldn't get too excited about what R&T stated. We've heard from other good sources that the 370z will only make 330hp. So until we get an offical Nissan statement I wouldn't get too confident about how much power the 370z will make nor what it will weight. Hopefully they won't dissapoint as I'm looking to get one if the performance is up to par.

He complains about the rattles and poor build quality of the vette.
