Default GTR Price Increased 10%...370Z Too?

Nissan has increased the price due to increased cost of materials according to the report (see Tom's Hardware mainpage near the bottom for link). I wonder if this will mean something similar for the 370Z or have they already factored in the cost increase when stating the base model will sell for $29.5K.

Some of the price jump in the GTR is likely due to market demands, but Nissan doesn't want to do more than 10% due to the fact that people will criticize (already started) the price hike. Goshen said a while back during an interview when the Titan was coming to market that no model would be continued if it could not be profitable. They may be increasing their margin with this move, but some of it is likely due to market pressures. The GTR is more expensive to build compared to the Z as it employs more exotic materials in higher quantities and the processes are more energy intense. Point being, the increase that's tacked on to the 370Z will likely be smaller and the $29,500 starting price is reasonable even with these increases. My concern is that the destination charge will disqualify the car as an "under 30K" and a lot of the comparisons that would have been will be missed on. This is a marketing issue though as there isn't much difference between a 29K and 31K car.

A member reported it here on the 370Z subsection.

Check for a post about Trim and Options or a post by Waizz.

NNA never confirmed a price yet.. Some guys here a basing everything off a couple of focus group screenings.

Funny even Waizzz himself says otherwise.

There may in fact be changes to what I have seen, and I wouldn't be surprised if they happened between now and the November showing.

That being said, I'm cool with my Z33 for quite awhile..

I wouldn't worry about the price too much until Nissan officially announces pricing on the new Z to the public. However, with the weak dollar, inflation, and the ever increasing cost of materials that could cause a price increase on any vehicle. And in some cases if the car company sees that they can sell the car for more at an increased profit they will do it. That's the nature of business.

Not to mention the GTR is loaded with CF and other "exotic" type parts and materials.

I soooo disagree with your comment. The 370 IS NOT too high to start with. Its performance is on par with at least the new SS Camaro and the Shelby GT500 (on paper). That alone would command my respect as at least a 32-33k car.

...so they say. But, If it we're 32K and had those "claimed" specs, I'd also be a happy camper. Very happy infact because it's not American made.

Agreed. $30-40k isn't all that much nowadays.

I was simply stating the obvious.

NNA is very secretive with things, even when I worked there we never knew ALL of the details.

Don't jump the gun on price increases, the GTR adjustment is Nissan trying to cash in on demand for the beast.

With that being said, I would be willing to bet that the starting price for the Z34 is $29.5..

no no, you say that way too casual! $30-40k ($600-850 plus a month)is not an uncommon price tag in our market, but the percentage of people who spend 40k and under on cars (not luxury lines) is small, and the percentage that spends it on two door sports cars is very small. You can go out and buy a brand new mustang gt (sacreligious) for $23-25k ($480-520 a month), and there are a ton of them on the street because of it. The 350z is more of the $30k($580-620) area, so we see much less of them. It may not sound like alot but its a difference of $120-150 a month. SO, lets make no bones about it; it's not everyone who can just go out and buy a car in this range.

Now, if this car comes as advertised: 340-360hp, lighter weight, and came be bought for around $30-33k it will EASILY be worth the money. In fact i was gonna trade my 350z for the new camaro ss, and when i found out about the price, weight, and expected performance numbers (not to mention the adjusted market value tag) i have no doubts i will buy the new 370z.

so with all this said, i could not be happier for what they are going to offer for the price they will ask for it!!! ITS A DONE DEAL!

sorry, post isnt done right. im not too savy with the forums.

oh, and im not so sure about the 370z, but i know a 350z with around 350hp IS NO MATCH for a shelby gt500.... (with a driver who wont just boil the tires from a dig)

gtr deserves a price raise since every1 was completely mesmerized at its msrp lower than most expectations.
370z is a different story. personally, i'd prefer the 350 design over this
