Nissan 450Z?
Or maybe he wasn't ready to "let the cat out of the bag", yet.
Again, this thread was started simply because of the possibility of a V8 Z car.
Until Nissan comes out and makes an official statement saying "There will never be a V8 in a Z car", it's still a possibility. Again, racing technology tends to trickle down.
I realize GM is a totally different company, but for years no one thought they would ever come out with a FI Corvette. Now look at 'em. A blown 6.2L in the Corvette, a blown 6.2L in a Caddy, and (rumor has it) the possibility of a blown 6.2L in the Camaro.
And for how long did Nissan say they wouldn't bring the GT-R to the US? Guess what we have now.

IMO, I don't know what's up with the V8 speculation when the 370Z (3.7L V6 confirmed, and nothing else) is going to unveiled in a few weeks. One can repost 1+ year old articles with regards to Nissan's V8 and racing heritage. You can wish all you want, but what you see from Nissan is what you get. In the end, you'll have to make the best of whatever Nissan has to offer which is a fantastic V6 (VQ37VHR) - most notably a great step up for me (coming from a VQ35DE). (not trying to sound harsh hehe)Have you seen the Z projects that are fitted with the Titan engine? They could barely get it to fit in the engine bay, and the hood had to stay off because of its height. The result would be an even larger rhino bump on the hood.
*EDIT* BTW... didn't someone here create a Frankenstein 350Z by placing a 5.6 (6.0, 6.2?) LS1 engine under the hood? */EDIT*

The Titan V8 is a 5.6L not 4.5L. I don't know for sure but I think the engine height should be the same since they are based on the VQ series engines.

even to add... they concieved a tt kit for the ls1 here, which is currently installed in a friends c5 vette
Noob, GTFO.
He sat down and knows the designer for the Z car. I have also talked to people that have connections with Nissan and they all said no v8 Z. This has already been discussed a lot and you don't need to bring it up again.

If you knew anything about the history of the Z you would have known this.

GEEEZZZZ!!!! What's with all the hostility??!!! Have you ever heard the saying 'it takes 2 muscles to smile and, like, a thousand to frown'. If you really don't want to hear/read/talk/discuss/type about the possibility of a 450Z then next time you see a thread titled "Nissan 450Z?" you should just put the mouse down, let go of the keyboard and step away from the computer. It'll be alot easier than coming in here all hot-headed and discussing a topic you don't want to discuss.
I've never really understood this behavior. I've been on LS1 boards for over 8 years and most recently on G35/G37 boards for the last 5 years or so, and I still just don't understand these types of responses. I have never given anyone a hard time about not being an expert on a subject. I either do what I can to help, or I avoid the topic altogether. Even within this thread, all of my responses have been in fun.
Seriously, anyone that gets this upset about stuff on an online discussion forum probably needs to seek professional help.
Mods, if you feel the need to lock this thread, go ahead. My feelings won't be hurt quite as much as others on this board might be.

Well... after my search, I've found that there are no official answers to this theory. Only a bunch of speculation by Z-car traditionalists about why there won't be a V8.
Here's another interesting find. Again, I don't know if this has been posted before or not.

"NISMO Releases V8 350Z for Super GT Championships
February 9th 2007 by Gary Grant — 7 Comments
Tagged:350z, nismo, nissan, super-gt
Nissan Motorsports, otherwise known as NISMO has a stellar history in the Japanese Super GT Championship, having won 2 out of the last 3 years. For 2007 they have introduced a V8 powered Fairlady Z to the series. At the same time, they have ramped up their support for customer teams across the globe.
Today’s press release actually doesn’t give too much information about the actual car, other than the fact that the car is powered by a 4.5 liter V8. The sole picture released shows a complete carbon fiber body.
Nissan press release after the break
Nissan challenges SUPER GT Championship with new V8 engined Z
- 2007 Global motorsport programs announced -
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports International Co., LTD (hereafter NISMO)today announced their global motorsports activities for the 2007 season.
Nissan’s factory Fairlady Zs (350Z) will now be powered by a stronger 4.5 L V8 engine aiming at victory in this years SUPER GT championship in Japan. Complimented by changes to the chassis and other key components, the competitiveness of the machines that won championships twice in the past three years has now been significantly improved."
Unfortunately, I also found this:
"Nissan's entering the 2007 Super GT race championship in Japan with this ferocious looking 350Z, a car which makes history by being the first works-backed 350Z to have V8 power.
Yes, folks, a V8 350Z, the stuff of dreams for many Zed fans, but the eight cylinder 4.5-liter engine is only for the track. We hear there are absolutely no plans for production, unfortunately."
But who knows? Manufacturers like to let their racing technology trickle down into their production vehicles. Why not Nissan?

The reason Nissan runs a VK V8 in their Super GT cars is a simple one really. The GT500 cars are capped at 500hp and it's easier to get a flatter and fatter torque curve out of their VK V8 than the VQ30DETT they were running before. This is the same reason Toyota switched from the 3S-GTE turbo inline 4 Supras to the 3UZ-FE V8 Supras before they changed body styles to the current Soarer/Lexus SC cars. The GT-Rs Nissan is currently campaigning in Super GT still run the same V8s from the Fairlady Z cars, but I don't see anyone speculating that Nissan will build a V8 GT-R. The reason for sticking with the V8 according to Nissan is that the VR motor is not yet proven enough to run in a race series. I call BS. Looks kinda bad if your 480hp motor isn't "proven" enough for the track. I think Nissan is simply able to get better and more useable power with the VK than they are the VR.

And, Chef, yes I will stay around for a while despite the un-warm welcome I've recieved. I've always been a fan of Nissan products. I've owned a 1993 NX2000, recently talked my parents into the Nissan Maxima and Titan, and I currently own an '06 G35 sedan as a business car, and an '08 G37 coupe for fun. My wife gets the grocery getter '08 Acura MDX for her and the kids, but now she's telling me she wants something fun (the G37 is off limits LOL), so I'm considering the new 370Z for her. When I mentioned it to her she liked it, so now the research begins.
