And, Chef, yes I will stay around for a while despite the un-warm welcome I've recieved. I've always been a fan of Nissan products. I've owned a 1993 NX2000, recently talked my parents into the Nissan Maxima and Titan, and I currently own an '06 G35 sedan as a business car, and an '08 G37 coupe for fun. My wife gets the grocery getter '08 Acura MDX for her and the kids, but now she's telling me she wants something fun (the G37 is off limits LOL), so I'm considering the new 370Z for her. When I mentioned it to her she liked it, so now the research begins.

Umm when it's a repost there is no reason to post about it again.
GEEEZZZZ!!!! What's with all the hostility??!!! Have you ever heard the saying 'it takes 2 muscles to smile and, like, a thousand to frown'. If you really don't want to hear/read/talk/discuss/type about the possibility of a 450Z then next time you see a thread titled "Nissan 450Z?" you should just put the mouse down, let go of the keyboard and step away from the computer. It'll be alot easier than coming in here all hot-headed and discussing a topic you don't want to discuss.
I've never really understood this behavior. I've been on LS1 boards for over 8 years and most recently on G35/G37 boards for the last 5 years or so, and I still just don't understand these types of responses. I have never given anyone a hard time about not being an expert on a subject. I either do what I can to help, or I avoid the topic altogether. Even within this thread, all of my responses have been in fun.
Seriously, anyone that gets this upset about stuff on an online discussion forum probably needs to seek professional help.
Mods, if you feel the need to lock this thread, go ahead. My feelings won't be hurt quite as much as others on this board might be.

The reason Nissan runs a VK V8 in their Super GT cars is a simple one really. The GT500 cars are capped at 500hp and it's easier to get a flatter and fatter torque curve out of their VK V8 than the VQ30DETT they were running before. This is the same reason Toyota switched from the 3S-GTE turbo inline 4 Supras to the 3UZ-FE V8 Supras before they changed body styles to the current Soarer/Lexus SC cars. The GT-Rs Nissan is currently campaigning in Super GT still run the same V8s from the Fairlady Z cars, but I don't see anyone speculating that Nissan will build a V8 GT-R. The reason for sticking with the V8 according to Nissan is that the VR motor is not yet proven enough to run in a race series. I call BS. Looks kinda bad if your 480hp motor isn't "proven" enough for the track. I think Nissan is simply able to get better and more useable power with the VK than they are the VR.
that's an insane engine.
